Well the commercial guys have to go 200 miles as they can't fish in the US economic zone. Fish are on the border. They are here, just have to find em. We aren't looking for the fish the commercials chase anyways.

Nitinat Canyon looks awesome right now. I'll be out next week in the Shootout. Fingers crossed they show up last minute like years past.

There were a few fish caught a few weeks ago out of Tofino. Posted in this thread. I think they are there. Just not in large numbers or schools yet. It's a big ocean. Once you try this tuna fishery you realize that pretty quick lol.
Most of the fun and challenge of the fishery IMO is the hunt
. I'm staying positive that we will be out next week or the following weekend

ok everyone, I have great and accurate news as of 6 PM tonight Thursday Sept 7th. I have good friends commercial fishing Tuna off of Bamfield. They are hitting them and they are big, 26 to 28 pounds. The boats are bringing in 80 to 100 per day. they are not trolling but jigging. The Tuna are……ready for it…….about 40 miles + offshore right on the USA/Canada border line. They are hitting water temperatures of 67 degrees. They are not finding them anywhere north of this. They said that no Tuna even as close as Ucluelet but at the border. This information comes to me from very honest people. I am not sure If I can get there this weekend but I am planning for next weekend. Hopefully they are just coming up and we will have a few good weeks. I really like the idea of jigging and this seems to indicate they are not at the surface unless you see them of course. If you get out there save some for me. Hope this helps all of you
