2012 Vancouver, Howe sound and Sunshine coast reports thread

Been scanning this site for a while but feel the need to comment on the video. Brutal - no respect whatsoever for the future of the species. I can't believe this is deemed legal.

so many of you have been living under a rock for too long.
this is nothing , its chicken feed , to whats really going on.
this has been happening for years here , but if you times that by 1,000,000's then you will get a real picture of what is going on in the Frazer.
and our government turns a blind eye on it for years, they are to scared to have another OKA , so they bankrupted 90% of the licenced commercial fisherman , to illegally appease them.
DFO and our indian act is MORE racist than the old SA Aparthied.

Does anyone have a fishing report from today so we can try to get our minds off that video?
was out this evening from 4-8 banged 2 real quick springs dragging mud at the cap mouth both just barely under and went back,
Nothing else for us but a crazy nice sunset! Worth the price of admission for sure.
Tim

some one should release it to the media. steward's of the land my butt, thats our salmon stamps hard at work right there
Media has it now. Will they publish it or even be the slightest bit interested ? probably not. Way too hot a potato for any authorities to deal with it. Everyones too afraid to go near this one. Been going on every year so I guess we are all supposed to ignore it....right? BS. What do I tell my kids if they saw this ? Tell them our country needs to give back, so we have to let massacers like this happen ? Our country allows certain people to do this because they are too scared to stop it ? I don't give two sh@ts what rights they have its completely wrong.

Hopefully some day we will look back on this kinda thing and say ...can you believe that that used to be allowed ? Sorry , you can move this post to the political thread but I would prefer it be on every thread and every piece of media that exists - if all the general public knew this was going on maybe something would eventually be done about it.

Fished west van to the cap Tuesday from 2-8. one undersized spring and one decent hatch coho. Anchovies.

P.S. That video made me sick to my stomach. I guess that's how they catch their ceremonial salmon...

And they wonder why they have a bad rap??
Why no one respects their heritage??

They are not First nations they are the deragatory word that is sometimes used for the natives.

I love the "white indian" that always seems to show up for crap like this

Get a job...it's over...

Were those nets DFO issued??

We have to buy our nets for the hatchery I belong too, we could use some more help DFO...

What a joke

Great shot of that sunset Hookin'up. Should be back out again tonight chasing chins off west van if all goes as planned. Will report back.

I was out tues fished t10, Point Grey , QA , trying to find the Whites but looks like they are not around yet. Has anyone hit one of the big whites lately ?

PS; the above video is being commented on in the Conservation thread maybe thats a good place so everyone can find it when they look for it, would be a logical place to look for it.

We were out Monday in the circus got two coho and a 22lb white, and lost another to a seal. Yesterday fished in the am and again in the afternoon, released two undersize jacks, seemed pretty slow yesterday compared to Monday, saw 2 fished netted compared to a dozen on Monday all on anchovies at 45 to 65'

was out today from 7 - 4 boated two cohos on green flasher and 4 foot purple haze glow chovy teaser. later on the flood around 2:30 I got a hit at 74' the entire anchovy was gone. followed up again at 70' hooked what I think was a spring came to the surface was trying to shake the hook and then took off then during the struggle the leader bust off the flasher :/.

5 inch anchovies seem like the hot ticket. lots of fish there.

fished from the pink appartment to the cap for a few hours tonite , hit a jack spring right off the hop at 72 feet , anchovie , also released a wild coho at 25 feet on a irish cream spoon , 1 break off on somthin with shoulders , gonna guess a seal got em , anchovie head was sheared right off , seen a few fish netted , not bad for an evening fish i guess , flat calm , not many boats either ,,

thanks ta caninball chris for all his info and reports , really appreciate it ,
startin ta figure out the tacks a bit better now , its an area that seems that 90% of the fish are caught by %10 of the fisherman ,
can be frustrating , put in the time.. you will eventually be rewarded.. definately not the wcvi lol,,

cheers

fog ducker I saw you today you had the same problem with the break offs? I had a rod popoff the clip and when I reeled it in only the head was left of the chovy. then when I hooked up at 70' the fish came to the surface then ran for 30 feet and then as I was retrieving fish off starting to think a seal got it? dont know what its like do they just yard your line off sometimes? i think it was a 12 lbs spring :/
