2012 Vancouver, Howe sound and Sunshine coast reports thread

ya I'll be out at t10 tomorrow as well in a buddies boat. I think we'll start at the bell early in the morning and head to t10 for the ebb and low slack. Will be checking this forum on my phone so i'll post any real time updates (hopefully there are some) and appreciate anyone else out there doing the same.

after work no hits at bell hit wild coho at cap in about 5 min on way back, also bought new boat last week 2004 17 smokercraft dlx 90 horse merc curious if its good to head to t10 in never been there no nothing about it

I know Peahead has already talked about and posted some photos from August 26th, but I thought I would add a few to the forum. Assuming that I can figure out the buttons above as they are all BLANK! (Yes, in both IE Explorer and Firefox.)

Well, that seems to have worked :)

OK, photos are kind of backwards here - The last one of me with the small Chinook caught on the Tomic Plug (a 503 if I remember correctly, a UV Purple Haze color), was the first fish taken that morning - about 5 minutes after setting the gear.

The second last photo of me shows my second fish and the third fish of the day. Greg rigged a standard Anchovy teaserhead and flasher combo for that one, plus all the other fish caught that day.

The second photo is back at Greg's dock - that's me teasing a seal with one of our catch - he damn near jumped in the boat about 3 seconds later!

First photo is back on the fishing grounds - it is the 5th fish caught and also the biggest. We let Greg have that one after he let the two of us catch all the other fish. (THANKS GREG!!!)

For those who haven't heard, I'm back living in Richmond now having retired from guiding due to health reasons. I'm living on a disability pension and doing quite well. If anyone needs a deckhand for a day I still love to get out fishing - give me a call.

I was out again this evening from 3:00 to 7:45pm. Same results as last night. Only one jack around 4 pounds landed. Did not see any fish caught although I heard about some that were caught earlier in the day before we got out. We fished the bell area. I think some of the fish were caught out around the T-10.

Glad to hear you're doing well Sushi Hunter. I wondered where your Nootka advice and reports went as I always appreciated them. Take Care.

Fishin slow at the bell this morning only seen one other boat with something on after and hour and a half. Gonna head to t 10 now I think. Anyone else out on the water at the moment? Weather / fishin report for t10 anyone?

Bell was slow for us too. Heading down to T10 at the moment. Hooked onto a small chin and saw a seal taunting us with a big one in his mouth. Lucky seal.

40 boats in the weekend derby and NOT 1 SINGLE LEGAL chinook landed! I landed a few that were just barely under and lost a good one to a seal. I heard the Orcas were out last night. I was at T10. South arm and bell bouy both sucked too!

Anybody having any luck this morning?

Fished Friday. Hooked 3 off the Pink Palace all before 10 AM. Choive at 21 feet. Saw one Spring taken. Nothing else fishing until 4:30 PM after the morning action. Very windy so stuck off West Van.

Fished bell buoy from first light til 9:30, nothing but shakers for us, saw no nets come out.

Moved to the pink apartments, got a 5 pound hatchery coho on the anchovy at 30 feet. Very slow there also.

wow, maybe I should have entered, no legal fish? We fished Sandheads, orca show at 6:30 am after having lines down for 5 mins, there they are, it was amazing to see them, but made for slow fish. Caught a wack of shakers, one jack spring and one around 10 + pounds, that was it. Saw one boat do battle with a fish, but looked like he got sealed? Wow would have won some money, I probably wouldn't have even called that fish in for weigh in but you never know. Good luck tomorrow guys!

I was out at T-10 from 7am til about 3. Then hit the bell buoy and the cap. Nothing but 4 little tiny shakers. Going out tomorrow with the wife. Hopefully she'll bring me luck, cause today sucked.

All those pro's out there and not a legal fish? Wonder what the reports would have been if there wasn't a derby on. lol :o Just kidding

Wow, your lucky usually when I see the Black fish , I never see seals around or salmon ... What were the orcas doing , sleeping ?

I am all for a catch and release style derby, but the entry fees are so much money, I couldn't justify putting down that much money. I hope if they put this derby on again, they rethink the way they set the derby up. It only caters to the rich as far as I am concerned. $1000 entry fee!!!! A side pot of $250 per day!!!! So if you only enter the side pot, you catch the biggest fish of the weekend and you don't qualify for the main prize????? I guess there is always critisism. Just saying there would be alot more participation if it was set up for everybody to afford and enjoy.

Atleast they are raising lots of money, seeing that there were no fish weighed in, no prize give away. lol maybe the weigh in boats coaxed the whales in to scare all the fish away.

The fish we got was trolling across the mouth, maybe fish passing by on the way up, we marked most fish on the sounder in that area. But it was tuff to keep the lines straight and working correctly as soon as you hit the current rip. The Orcas where definitely not sleeping but they seemed to pass thru quickly. We got some video footage of them. Not the best quality. It was the first time the wife had seen them out there, she was so exited she was shaking, or maybe it was because she was driving the boat at the time and she didn't know what to do.
