Well, well what's going to happen to the derby after today's halibut news?
Effective 00:01 hours April 1, 2013 until further notice:
- The maximum lengthfor halibut is 126cm.
- The daily limit for halibut is one (1).
- The possession limit for halibut is two (2), only one of which may be greater
than 83cm in length.

Largest legal wins first, second largest legal wins second, third...........................

the winner will have a really short, closely cropped tail fin and it's lips ripped off "from the fight". the losers will have fish 1 cm over and will be busted by DFO at the dock.

I just posted all the derby entries on the Island Outfitters home page, http://fishingvictoria.com/ The locations of where the fish were caught are also noted, but I will not vouch for them actually being where they caught! One angler also caught a nice hatchery spring on the herring he was using on his spreader bar. There are LOTS of photos on the Island Outfitters facebook page.
