XD 100 pricing ?!

I wish I had a sub to XD. So wish i did. Geeze I would sleep better. Damn 2 strokes are so last year tech. Wish it was more modern running on a lithium battery. Let's go catch some fish boys and shut the front door.

lol. i love old stuff as much as the next guy (hell my tow vehicle is a $3500 junker i spent $10K on getting it up to scratch) but when your fuel supply becomes limited and part supplies become non existent its time to sell and move on to something better while it still has some market value. alternatively you can hang on and eventually either parts will run out or fuel will become too expensive to run and the machine will become worthless. best to just move on while it has some market value. i get the sunk cost fallacy but best to put the 2smokes to bed - they pollute a lot, cost a lot to run and burn excessive fuel.

Etec emissions are a non-issue. Parts availability still excellent, and fuel economy comparable to a modern 4 stroke. Sounds like you have a bit of research to do.

We use our boat about +/-15 weekends every season, total operating time each outing is around 2-3hrs (usually at 30mph) and about 25-30L of fuel on a 2019 Evinrude 135HO. I use a little over 1 gallon of XD100 per season at +/- $100 gallon. If I was being conservative, I'd say total annual XD100 cost is $125

My alternative motor would have been a Mercury 150. The Merc takes about 5L of engine oil and your can buy 3.78L / 1 gallon jugs of 10w30 Quicksilver at Canadian Tire right now for $75, and a filter costs about $18. Mercury branded 10w30 is even more expensive.

Total seasonal cost for an annual oil change on the Merc would be about $125 + time to do the oil change, versus about the same in XD100 and no time/labour for the oil change on the Etec.

Most boaters are lucky to get a few weekends out per year, and the oil injection system is great / low maintenance option (Aside from everthing else I like about my Etec). If you are putting +200hr a season on your boat, then its a different calculation (unless those are idling/trolling hours where fuel/oil consumption would be way lower).

The only lesson here is that the price of all engine oil has gone up over the last few years. Moving on.

not much can be done I’m afraid. This pesky two smoke just keeps running. I’m mainly looking for cheaper opens than bill howmuch. Looks. Like Amazon it is. I wish these small town hicks could onLy realize they’re pricing themselves out of the game. Love supporting local but not into getting gouged.

You haven't owned an Etec obviously. These are not 80s/90s two strokes, they're so quiet and smooth around the dock that most people are surprised when told it's a two stroke. BRP continues to stock parts for Etec, hell, they still have parts for the old OMC motors, and that company has been defunct since 2000. The one thing that ended their run was their inability to overcome the old attitudes toward two stroke. I'll take the big torque any day.

lol Sometimes I wish I’d gone with a 175 etec over the merc 150 four stroke. Nothing against the merc; it’s been Perfect

Canadian tire was the best price I could find close by but this place online seemed decent even once shipping was added.

As far as the 2 stroke game dying Brp is still designing and manufacturing the ghost engines on their pontoon boats. They are just not sold separately yet. They have hands down the best snowmobile tech thanks to the same direct injection technology and engineering. As of right now turbo 2 stroke sleds dominate the mountains so I don't see all 2 strokes disappearing just yet 🤙.
