Go to the 2:50 mark of the video. I don’t think it’s lacking any power at all. As for the pickup and drag options, the Calcutta has 15lb drag and 30inch retrieve per crank. One crank of the Calcutta is about half the circumference of an avet.

Pulling on 12-28lb yellow fin last october with my Calcutta seemed to be maxed out in it's capacity. It's an excellent reel and normally a river reel for me but I thought I'd bring it along to try it out. The 30" of pickup is very tiring and it just didn't have the balls of other reels I brought.....just ask @wagner (hook and hand). With 41" pickup on my MXJ, 46" on my JX 2 Speed MCR, Torium 16 and 20, Saltiga 2 speed and all with smoother drag.

As far as a freshwater reel the Calcutta is excellent as noted in the video you posted with the muskie
