We'll be out tomorrow as well. Will try tent for springs and try for some lings both inside and at porlier. What boat are you in?
You can call me on Channel 16. Should be out by 10:00. Going out with the girls.
Picked off a spring last year July 31st at tent so its always worth a try.

alright sounds good, give me a call once your out and ill let you know if theres any action, i think ill head to porlier for the am bite, and then do some jigging as well. Im in a 25' grady with twin 200 yammies. Call for nedarb. What are you going to be in?
I picked up a spring last july this time aswell at tent, but havnt seriously fished porlier but there usually seems to be more boats out there fishing so it must be for a reason.. Glood luck hope to see you!

I've never fished Porlier this late in the year either as I'm usually in Juan de Fuca or Renfrew.
Eric - Tent should be really picking up with the Chemainus River fish but as of Aug 1st its all closed inside for chinook retention; July 15th for the Chemainus River estuary. Check the DFO site for the latest and map of closed areas. Same as last year.

got out today, got about a 8lb ling in porlier, let a bunch of samller ones go and released about a dozen rock cod. A bit to too rough this am in the straight though so we headed to tent after a few passes on the outside, nothing at tent or porlier, not even a dog fish..nice day out though...happy to see dr.hook come and find me 
The Runt, ill be coming over to my cabin again on either friday (the 21'st) or sunday (the 22nd) for the steve nash charity game, im not sure how long im stiking around but ill see if i an find you..Im about 6'4 and have red hair, so im not too hard to miss..and im at the candy store in the park about a dozen times a day

p.s, while sitting in porlier kelp beds attempting to jig in a tidal rip doing about 6knts, we drifted over a school of springs,im assuming they were spings cause cuz they were much larger than pinks, and had the green, black spotted backs..all in about 15' of water. They were in the kelp underneath hangin out..there was atleast im guessing 30 of them, the smallest one probably 15lbs, they were all nice sized..unfortunetly by the time we got over the excitement and got the boat turned around and back to where they were they were gone..
