Cleaning salt of a reel...

...or maybe it's corrosion?
Went to a garage sale on the weekend, and got me a 10 ft eagle claw mooching powerlight rod. (No. mplmc-10 ft.) Got everything else but no mooching rod. Cleaned it up and gave it a good polish. Very good condition.

It also came with a daiwa 175 reel, half full of line. I think it's 30 #.
How should I go about cleaning it?1000002051.jpg

Salt-away is good prevention, but corrosion scale is best handled by CLR.
As mentioned take all of the line off, soak in CLR for ten to twenty minutes, checking it often. Then wash in dish soap & rinse.
Rub it down dry and rub some bee's wax rover the bare metal. It will slow further corrotion. Lube it up on the gear, spindle and springs with some light grease, like super lube. Good to go.

Yeah, I payed ten bucks for the outfit. But I have a daiwa reel with a line counter
Just don't know where it is. 20 or 30 lb line?

Another question: anyone mooching with lures? I have a tru roll lure
I found out guys in Washington use spoons, mooch a jig(?) Rippled herring jigs
Thinking of putting a little box together.
