Searching online where I can take the small vessel machinery operators course. Not much coming up for BC? Nanaimo has a place but they’re not accepting any applications at this time. Maybe I’m not searching the right thing? Anyways, someone know where I can find a place that offers this course?

im assuming you mean SVOP??

might want to see if she is doing any courses...

Don't worry go guiding and take people out like most it seems now a days and oh and yeah undercut the market like them too ... ive seen as low as 50 a hour.
Yes im being sarcastic , As i had a guy call me other day this so called "guide" cancelled on them, asked my price so gave it to him OOOHHH so can we go for 3 hours then as thats what he charges us for a full day trip . (300$ ) as i told him im a 100 a hour...I said sorry no its 5 hour min...
Ill be honest ive never EVER heard of DOT coming down on anyone all these guys have unmarked boats an if they do get confronted they say OH these are my friends!!!

Thanks Wolf. I took the SVOP and med A-3 courses a couple years ago. ROC-m too. The SVMP is the machinery operators course for small vessels. It’s a basic course that I need to take as a prerequisite for some other classes I’d like to take In the future. Not much info out there on it for some reason. Or maybe it’s just not common enough for google to spit out the info I’m looking for?

Yeah, the world of "easy money" guiding........ LOL!

On another note, we had a DOT blitz in Tofino and Ukee twice in 10 or 12 years. I went the blue decal route after the first time

Yeah had to laugh that program its voluntary now BTW so dont worry about it ,( was told by DOT ) go to other parts that are "away" from city hubs you never get checked I even see guide boats with BC numbers no C numbers LOTS of them...thing is you can take all the courses all the safety etc etc etc there will always be the illegal guys doing it nothing has changed in 20 years and never will not enough enforcement.

Yes that’s the one. Thanks, I was confused lol. Unfortunately I’m in the okanagan so searching for a place on the mainland.

try shooting an email to TC Marine in Vancouver . BCIT used to offer it but it looks like it has been dropped. I am not up on the current requirements ,but there has been a lot of changes in the last 2 years.
