What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

My lazy way of anticipating someone might ask what the brand is and how they are supposed to be mounted, and I half expected someone to question the brand name thinking I was joking. But I'm always happy for when you come over to help me read them during the install.
I may not be handsome but I am handy

I have the same outboard and mine come with 4 blade prop
I think the 4-blade is better for high thrust. Curious as to why they come with different props, mine was “brand new” but a ‘23 model that was a showroom deal. They’ve also got both a 9.8/9.9, and seem to have a whole bunch of models within each, so potentially they get propped differently depending on the model. The three prop works well for me, I could see wanting the 4 with a heavier boat.

Well, the ol' Dit-Kok arm rests are installed. Bit of engineering to make them fit with my NRS folding seat mounts that allow me to access the hatches under the seats. Here's some pics of the almost finished job - waiting for Todd at Fawcett Boat Covers to build my dense foam armrest covers to complete the project. Here's some photos

Todd does nice work

Todd does nice work
Roger that, I highly recommend Todd at Fawcett Boat Covers in Parksville - they did amazing work on my boat canvas, followed by replacing my bolsters and now building custom arm rests. Super nice people, who do very good work at a fair price. Shop local. :)

Playing with my new used to me Ipad Pro and Scanstrut mount. I think I've got to flip her around but feels pretty solid.

We have been using an iPad and navionics for 10 years and it is fantastic. You might find that there is quite a bit of glare on that screen…it all comes down to the angle you are looking at it from. Maybe you will need to play around with the angles when it gets sunny again?
Ours is mounted so that if you put a mirror on the screen all you would see from the helm is the roof of the cabin in the reflection = no glare.

This recent Amazon purchase has been a game changer for my batteries. Automatically charges then maintains a full charge. There is also a mode that cycles your batteries to remove any build up of sulphate. You can leave it plugged in running 24/7 to constantly maintain correct charge, so easy.

Another project finished and off the list. Last year I installed a Troll Master on the boat and after the first major rain the unit leaked and filled with water rendering it useless. They kindly warranted the unit so this time around I found this waterproof electric box and problem solved. Let it rain. While I was in the fix and repair mood, also replaced the high water alarm - another victim of salt air corrosion. Hoping to knock off a few more fixing season items off the list over the holidays...between cocktails and visiting friends and family.

Semi-annual maintenance and back in the water. Oil, impellers, t stats, rewired the riggers and sent the cuddy cushions in for renewal. Wife really wants a midberth for the kids so you guys might see the best boat I’ve ever owned come onto the market after next year
She can’t be serious!!

Installed zipwake and finally had a break in the weather to get out and try them.
The old trim tabs original to my boat were slow reacting and were needing repair.
First reaction to zipwakes was it will take some getting used to not having to work my trim tabs. Keeps the boat level and the roll is gone.
Opted to not do a below waterline install of thru hull for wires, already had holes from the old trim tabs above the bracket
Also tried a newer set of props on my boat. Mercury rev 4xp. These are regular rev4’s reworked by mercury racing. Great top end speed hit my wot numbers but did notice a bit more grunt to pop out of the hole. Went from 17 to 20 pitch( rev4xp generally gain 300 rpm over the same pitch in a rev 4)
When I say grunt, 99% of people would not notice and this is hammering it to get on step.
mpg went from 2.1 to 2.5 at cruise this is a combination of of zipwakes and prop pitch. Going to get my 17’s re-pitched to 18.5 and balanced.

I don't get how anyone can stomach spending another dime on their boat with the new way fishing is going to be managed in this province.

Very nice, I really like the concept of the Zipwake.
If you can tell there’s a bit more grunt getting out of the whole in good weather, there’s a good chance it could be a large grunt in bad seas. Good call on going up 1.5 and trying that.

Went out for a fish today, optimum conditions, glass calm. Starting working the zipwakes manual and auto. Love them! I can literally stuff the bow. When in auto cruising around 25 they are at 3% extended and hold the boat level. Manual mode 100% extend is stuffing the bow. Great system.

Props are working great. At first I thought they may have lugged the enginebut they do not. Cruse rpm is 3500 and 27mph thought the engine may be working hard but they sound great and mpg is up.

Going to go pawning and crabbing Monday so see how it works with a couple hundred pounds of gear in the stern.

Sounds like you’re really getting her dialed in! 👏
