Are you going by the Smart Craft gauge to get this mpg? Do they read in US gallons? That’s great. I should be similar overall but not quite as good, you would think.
If I can even get to 3mpg average I’d be thrilled.

I’m just going by the Merc vessel view gauges. I believe they are all in US gallons.Curious, have you verified that ie tracked actual fuel usage vs miles travelled, or just trusting your gauges.
Because my gauges suggest I’m getting 2.6 to 2.7mpg average but I just carefully tracked my last month or so (around 700L of fuel worth) and as I suspected, it’s actually 2.4mpg.
Yes they read in US gallons but I’m using that in my calc as well (3.84L) Also not confusing nautical miles with miles (x1.15) when applicable… but it just seems off. Not surprising. I’m a technology conspiracy theorist lolAre you going by the Smart Craft gauge to get this mpg? Do they read in US gallons?
Just checked to make sure.I’m just going by the Merc vessel view gauges. I believe they are all in US gallons.
F…ing A. If you need deckhands to yell at just let us know. I would love to be able to tell my wife sorry have to go help a friend for a few days, he's battling C. I won't mention getting you into some Tyees at Sandheads or cruising close to a couple beaches so you can Bino the wildlife. Be well and if you don't catch or have the energy to fish we can ship you a get well smoked salmon and salmon/hali box.Got it launched from the drystack and started it! The walk back up the ramp damn near killed me in that heat, but she's ready for a morning sea-trial. Wish me luck.

That's unheard of gas mileage, running your V8 Merc seems way better than what I get with my 4 cyl. 200 Suzuki on the same hull. I still need to raise my motor up to the highest setting, but don't expect any mileage improvement running a 3x16x18 3/4 suzuki prop. I splurged on a new HDS Pro 12" with the 3 in 1 Hd transducer yesterday. Fits nicely between windshields.I’m running the eco enertia 16X17P on my Seasport 19, weighs 4500lbs plus or minus. It’s on my new Merc Seapro 225, 4.6L v8.
I’m getting 3.5-4.0mpg. Very happy with performance and economy.
Here’s a pic from the other day, running at 30mph, 8gph, 3570rpm….3.7mpg
Nice hog!! Got to be pushing 20lb, throw some lead in there and you have a derby winner.Well boys, we got it done! Fished about 9-11 in West Van. Boat ran great, I ran...ok. Definitely ran out of breath a few times. Almost fell down when Andrew handed me the rod with a pig of a fish on it. But managed to reel on my own and stayed on my feet. Damn near killed me. We got a really nice coho pushing 10lbs and barely slot pig of a white both on bait at 65 feet. I'm lucky to have had a capable mate because I wasn't doing any of that solo, not a chance. I'm absolutely tickled right now. And in desperate need of a nap!

Is that the elusive 20lb under 80cm slot fish?! Maybe I am a believer now…Well boys, we got it done! Fished about 9-11 in West Van. Boat ran great, I ran...ok. That's as close as it gets and I still think it wasn't close to 20. I want to see the calibration on that derby scaleIs that the elusive 20lb under 80cm slot fish?! Maybe I am a believer now…
Hey, I eat my words. My buddy showed me one today he got in the July 15 slot, 80cm 20lbs, they do exist, short and fat. First one I’ve seen. From now on there going to be a lot moreIs that the elusive 20lb under 80cm slot fish?! Maybe I am a believer now…
At 30mph I’m only running at 3570rpm. If I drop the speed a bit to 28mph I can hit 4mpg.That's unheard of gas mileage, running your V8 Merc seems way better than what I get with my 4 cyl. 200 Suzuki on the same hull. That’s still unreal mileage. I’m really hoping it’s the Eco Enertia prop. Can’t wait to find out.At 30mph I’m only running at 3570rpm. If I drop the speed a bit to 28mph I can hit 4mpg.
I’d imagine that zuke 4 banger is going to be reving quite a bit more than that at 30mph
Your right ,I'm probably turning 4300 -4500 @ 28-30 MPH.,so it's working a lot harder.You made a great choice with that motor.At 30mph I’m only running at 3570rpm. If I drop the speed a bit to 28mph I can hit 4mpg.

Ended up working on the old Mastercraft ski boat while in the Okanagan (5.7/350 TBI motor).
Started to give me some problems last week of the summer holidays. Th boat should be good for +45mph @ 4500rpm, but was topping out at less than 4000rpms with no load, and bogging down at lower speeds when under load (we discovered this when trying to pull me out of the water on a slalom ski).
Replaced the high pressure fuel filter (no effect), and replaced the spark plugs (some good effect), but ran out of time. Its 24 years old, but only has 400 hours on it. Even though it only gets 10-15hrs a year I'm pretty religious about fluid changes, but have let some of the other maintenance items slide. Next up are the wireset + cap/rotor - also going to buy an OBD1 scan tool. These motors are know for fuel pump issues (has a mesh inlet screen that gets clogged) - so that is likely coming off as well over the winter and will buy a fuel pressure gauge. Annoyed with myself that I couldn't fix it while still in the water.
TBI. No carb in that acronym.Interesting, I’m far from educated on these engines but have been through a couple fuel issues in mine. Fuel flow comes to my mind, pump or carb (is a 4 barrel)?
Best pricing I could find for fuel pump was marine parts source out of Nanaimo.
