What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

Yah kind of. I ordered the new decals and they came as factory for the year. But I didn’t like the big goddy blue stripes on them, to dated. So I took a razor blade and very carefully trimmed all the blue off the decal and just kept the white mercury. Looks a lot better, brings it more up to date I think.
How did you pull off the old decals? Heat gun? I hear they don’t come off easy.

Not on my boat but I’ve got the same shore power plug on my boat as on my camper. Swapped it out thanks to arbutusRV who has open on Sunday. Dropped family off at Roslyn Campground in Nanaimo. It was 94 in the camper thank God I got the AC going. I could never survive in the interior or down south. Heading back to Victoria to pick up the boat and then haul up to courtenay Comox for the opening

Why Courtney/Comox for the opening?

Took the new puppy out to Comox Lake today, she was watching the wife on the paddle board. I wanted to check out the new impeller on the main to make sure all was working as expected before our Nootka trip this Friday

Going to change the glow plugs on my 3 cylinder diesel next week. Reading lots of stories online of them snapping off during removal. Don’t want to go there so any tips from you mechanics? Engine hot or cold? Any special penetrant to spray or soak around the threads ahead of time??

Oh oh. I don’t want that to happen. One of three working and she starts ok so maybe I should wait until the summer fishing is over. 😂

Seafoam or moovit penetrating oil overnight or longer. Be gentle, no impact tools. If the prove stubborn put a wrench on them and gently tap the top with a hammer while applying force to the wrench. I’d bet they’ll pop right out.

Ask @noluck

Very talented friend/fabricator did this radar arch, bait cleaning table (perfect to drop in 3/4" UHMW board) and welded rigger mount pads.

If anyone is interested in getting work like that done I can provide his info, works out of his shop in Nanaimo. As an idea for anyone interested, the arch is about ~$3k, completely custom.
So jealous !!
Put the trailer up on blocks this week. Things looking pretty sad underneath. New axle to be ordered tomorrow. New springs & (having recently weighed the boat with full tank) I found I was well over the max weight without brakes. Gulp. Only been dragging this thing around for 7 years.
So, full disc brake kit with surge actuator on order too. So glad I don’t have any expensive hobbies…
im thinking of adding brakes to my single axle trailer too. How much did it cost you in all ?

if it sticks in the head it is because the tip has swollen, nothing will help with freeing it but if it doesn't come out someone will be removing the head. what make of engine?

Replaced my throttle and shift cables for the main, easier and cheaper then I thought… should have done a couple years ago.

Also, rookie mistake with my spare file filter. The compartment that I thought was dry is only ‘mostly’ dry. Ziplock or vac seal next time!
