Nice! Just ordered mine yesterday so be doing the same thing in a few weeks.Looks like a fun few days at my place,, all my new toys are in. Can’t wait to get started, will start tomorrow.
Is your boat at Jenkins for the pod as well?Me waiting for my Hourston to be podded
Been 7 weeks in the shop
What happened to your drive?Today Inlet sent the insurance claim quote out for the new or repaired drive. A cool 20k on top of the original 12k this summer. FML
Here I thought I was going for a little kicker upgrade.
Apparently I hit a log at some point last spring/early summer. Pulled the boat in July for some routine maintenance and we noticed a huge amount of prop damage on the port side and the starboard side steering knuckle was gone. So they figured a log got chewed up and spit out and smashed the other drive. So after the 12k insurance claim to fix the knuckle and repair the props they figured there was no further damage to the port side as the shaft dialed in true. So fast forward 6 months later and I brought it into a different shop to get a new kicker and some maintenance again when they discovered a gear tooth had sheared off and run itself through everything. Total write off. So now they've reopened the claim (I hope). I've owned the boat for two years now and the 4 times I've pulled it for maintenance there's been some kind of catastrophic failure. What happened to your drive?
Sorry to hear that man. I hope insurance comes through.Apparently I hit a log at some point last spring/early summer. who diagnosed this? sounds like they dropped the ball and should have taken the extra time to really go through that lower unit before calling the other repairs.. sorry to hear that dude.. id be livid at the other shop for missing something that major..Apparently I hit a log at some point last spring/early summer. I'm really trying not to go there. It was Greg at North Shore that did the repair and by all accounts was doing his absolute best to get it done and out the door in time for my vacation. I know he feels bad about it. When I showed up he was literally supposed to just be doing zincs and fluids while the boat got detailed. It ended up being a 50 hour job all while he had just lost a guy who lit himself on fire in a bilge. My problems seemed insignificant at the time. Hopefully the insurance covers it and it will just be added to the list of stories that have come along with this boat purchase.who diagnosed this? sounds like they dropped the ball and should have taken the extra time to really go through that lower unit before calling the other repairs.. sorry to hear that dude.. id be livid at the other shop for missing something that major..
It's absolutely insane what they cost. At least they're impossible to find parts for too. That sucks man hopefully it get fixed in a hurry. The parts for those other drives are crazy expensive....
I have a lot of chicken to sell to get there. There's no money in building houses for rich people anymore. This is the primary reason I ditched the the diesel inboard. The parts are crazy expensive and hard to find. Hope it all works out for you. Maybe its time for twin Merc 600HP.......
