What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

Sprayed the first coat of gelcoat today on my project boat. Small bugs seem to be attracted to the smell.,went well other than I dragged the air hose over the corners.I need to adjust the colour slightly for next 2 coats.I'll be taking it for a run when the gelcoat is done to see how it performs with the twin 115 Mercs on the pod.

What type of boat is that? Will that trailer work for it hanging so far off the back?

Looks good!

A common topic with a photo like this, but look how far back the axles are to compensate for the motors hanging off. You can be sure that when it’s all done, Ray will have it all dialed in for proper tongue weight, etc.

SeaRay hull.

It's a '76 Searay 22 that an old guy had for 30 years till he passed.Used it for 3 months in Renfrew and kept in a barn the rest of the year.Podded in 2017 with camp return Merc's.The trailer is new (2021) and I think 8000 Lb. capacity,it is plenty strong enough, trailers great. He spent a lot of money converting it to outboards and replacing fuel tank and closed cell foamed under the sole. But he never cared about how it looked ,just functioned well,so I'm prettier her up with new gelcoat, interior etc..No money in it for resale for me,but keeps me busy.

Right when you bought it I was considering going to "have a look" She looked tough but it seemed like it might be a good deal.
Glad you got her.

Playing around with the idea of a removable Alaskan bulkhead. I like the open back for summertime but a bulkhead would sure be nice in the winter. Couple pics of the mock up. I’m not 100% yet but I know an aluminum wall with a door is going to cost me a lot less than a drop curtain. IMG_7271.jpegIMG_7274.jpeg

Also, I can’t recommend one of these Milwaukee boxes enough. Spare rigger parts, stainless hardware, spark plugs, hose clamps yadda yadda yadda. Super handy to have
I can’t believe I didn’t think of this, I have the Milwaukee socket set on my boat and in my sxs because there water proof and completely forgot about these

I’ve been thinking about building something like this on my boat but having it snap in to the existing buttons I have already installed. The tarp back in the winter sucks. I already have some wood pieces I put in to block the wind that comes up the floor and the gunnels. Next step is something like you are doing.

Took the new ride for a rip. Ride was awesome in the slop today, the inboard! Uhg.
Time to put a deposit on some lease returns and get ready to start removing stuff
Dude that looks amazing! One of my
Favourite looking hulls out there

Well we'll long time no post boys. Been out fishing my brains off. Took everyone's advice and mounted the trolling plate with ss bolts and a cutting board backer. Works like a charm and totally understand the backing plate theory now that I've gotten some work done to her. Uv4000 sealed w marine epoxy applied to the holes. Other than fishing the only other work I've been doing is some dremeling and filling of gelcoat spider cracks. For you guys who store the boat for the winter in the driveways, when do you start to winterize? Ive down my lower leg oil change and basically just been throwing 50 to 60 bucks of 94 in her till shes full. I run a can of seafoam until she smokes and shut her off for winter after inox spray down. I figure I can keep fishing for a while so when do you guys usually park it for the winter. ? 20230908_181317.jpg

Where is the boat spending the winter?
Prince George has much different winterization procedures and timing than in my Campbell River driveway .
