What cool, freaky or ugly things have you reeled up?

Humbodt are fine if you soak them in milk for 8 hours-batter and fry. Very good-not as good as the best calamari-but good!!

I caught a basket star the one and only time I've been prawning.

Jigging in sanich inlet many years ago. Had something huge on , would gain some line then it would go back down to the bottom. Finally was getting it close to the boat , one guy with the net, another with the gaff to get the monster .... frigging rock!

Caught this one a few years ago at Quesnell lake

An old Peetz Rod and Reel while jigging in Samsun Narrows. Thing was full of barnacles and even had a starfish attched to it. Reel was completely hooped but with a bit of TLC the rod would still be usable. Still have that setup for a conversation starter.

Post #47- That basket Star is freaky looking. Almost alien like. Very cool!

The funniest thing I caught back in the day, motor mooching live herring on a one oz banana weight at Active pass during a rip tide was a sea gull
The ol peetz started to click out & soon zinged, when I stared to reel her in the line went UP:eek: dam rat of the sky

A few years ago 20 miles offshore the dark gray offshore gulls were all around us cause we'd been using anchovies on teaser heads for trolling on the downriggers
We would loose quite a few baits to the gulls trying to get the lines down, well one time in my hurry to free fall the riggers a gull had hooked the bait & by the time I noticed what had happened the counter was @ 40ft. the sea gull may have sunk 20ft before the hooks ripped off its beak
Great thing was after his buddy's saw what had happened they all disappeared & left us alone to the fishing

Oh ya hooked this 2 years ago, quite a tasty mosil

Haha. Like kanuckle head I caught one of these a few years ago. I was pretty funny watching my buddy try to free it. It even gave him a bite.

I tried to relase one of these once ! It sliced me finger wide open. Now if it happens I wrap the line 5 times around the release clip and free wheel the DR to ... oh bout 60 or so. They are real co-operative when you decide to un hook them. lol
