What are my options for fishing around Parksville

I'm heading up to Parksville on the 18th and 19th of FEB for a family get away and I'm toying with the idea of dragging the boat up. So I'm wondering if anybody has any reports/tips from the Parksville area, to help me decide if its worth it. How is the winter spring fishery/crabbing in that area? I think it's pretty exposed so I guess weather might be an issue.

from what i hear, i would forget towing your boat and enjoy
the family holiday.
got a buddy who lives there and his reports are that the inside
fishery has not been good.
correct me if this is wrong people...

No its right the fishing has been bad for 3-4 years now really bad. May be some winters off french creek deep though. good luck

Crabbing and prawning has been great around here, but to catch winters you'll want to tow north about an hour or so and launch.

MyEscape was out Sunday with tremendous success up that way, but as I said, at least an hours tow each way to launch.
