Not to be Captain Wetblanket or anything, but I get a gag-response every time I see somebody holding a big yelloweye or shortraker like that---promoting the culling of those huge rockfish is obscene.
I for one support and applaud all the RCA's in BC waters instituted by the managers. It's a matter of time before Alaska does the same thing---those fish can't take that kind of Lodge-pressure
I've read that otolith aging studies peg those big buoy-kegs at 140 - 150 years old
Beating up on those breeders is like taking a chain-saw to a California Redwood forest.
Agree partly Sharphooks--- but I dont think there is a hope that a big rockfish like that could be recompressed. Its the same here everytime we get a rockie in over one atmosphere.
