Victoria Derby this coming weekend?

Somebody mentioned at the 6 mile on Friday that there was a derby this coming weekend....perhaps sponsored by Trotac? Does anyone have more info?

i think its a one day event with the Weigh in at Esquimalt anglers

Doghouse Derby held December 08 with weigh in at Esquimalt Anglers' ramp.
One chinook over 5 lb weighed in per boat (only one prize per boat).
Twenty one (21) fish entered with 14 hatchery clipped and 7 wild unclipped.
Nine fish weighed 10 lb. or more.
Top three fish were: Mark Steer 14 lb 14 oz; Brian Cooper 14 lb 07 oz and
Leigh Tradewell 14 lb 00 oz.
Weather was excellent with no rain and only a light chop on the water.

Only 21 fish weighed in with all those boats out ??
I would have thought the numbers would be better by now.

I was trying off of Albert Head in my yak for a few hours but only managed 1 shaker and 1 other bite. Talked to
Lighthouse and they had 4 but perhaps they were not in the derby. Also, the way the derby was organized, it was
$100 per boat but I believe you could only enter 1 fish per boat, so the number of fish weighed in may be
misleading--some boats had more than 1 fish.

There were definitely more fish caught but each boat only weighed in their largest single fish.

Albert Head to 10mile.

A line from Albert Head to the tip of Trial Island inwards was the boundary for the derby. Oakbay and Ten mile point areas have never been part of this derby in years past..
