VHF Frequencies

New to coastal waters. Could someone tell me if there is a common VHF frequency used by Sportsfishermen, for chatting, 'tween Victoria and Campbell River?

Here in Tahsis, we use Ch. 06 for a calling and standby channel. Ch. 6 is used by sports fishermen, boaters, and commercial boats such as the Uchuck, and various log haulers.

Some of the local lodges use other channels.

Seems to depend on the area.

Common channels are 01; 06; 68; 69....I also use the F and C channels which you have to install after market.

F and C channels?

More info please.

I know that the Vancouver guides have a "private" channel that they get installed in their radios, but I have not heard of F & C channels.
