Under 8 hp kickers

Looking for a kicker for my 17.5 aluminum
Of course weight is a major issue.
I have had a new 6 hp suzuki but there too loud vibrate and idle like crap. Nothing like the 9.9’s I am use to. Are the Yamaha’s any better I see the odd older 6’s come up . Thoughts?

I’ve got a 2014 yamaha 8 and it vibrates quite a bit. Also a lot louder than the old 6hp yammie I had before.

Need to go 9.9 to get the fuel injection with 2 cylinders for a quiet engine on the four stroke stuff. Then your at 94 lbs on the tohatsus. The older yamaha 8hp 2 strokes were really nice light and quiet. Good luck finding one though. Once and a while I see one pop up

Mine was a 1999 two stroke. 100-1 gas to oil. Was super quiet and smoooooth. I had mine on a 17.5” and it was perfect for that boat

I have a 2005 Yamaha 6hp 2 cylinder 4 stroke and it’s perfect on my 17’ DE (other than the frozen tiller handle). Very quiet compared to the 9.9 high thrust that corroded up on me. Unexpected benefit of the lower HP is finer trolling speed control.
