Ucluelet

Am planning on going to Ucluelet on the 12th. Has anyone been out there lately? If so, what shape is the road in this year. Paved all the way but boy are there a lot of blind curves with drop offs. Hate to meet a semi in some spots. Also, how was the fishing? Got a new boat this year and can hardle wait to try it out. The wife and I have been going there for the past 15 years. It is our big vacation of the year. Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

Fished Ucluelet from the 24-27. Big Bank was good (at the shallows)for springs to 22 lbs and small halibut, rats nose was good for halibut. Also tried Southbank....slow. Tried Cree, Austin and Meares in the Broken Group...also slow. Best lures were 4" glo/gr and green/silver coyotes and purple haze or jellyfish hootchies trolled in the 137 or deeper. Most fish were in the mud. Talking to the guides indicated the shallow fish of the past 3 years had yet to show. Weather was windy all days, with gales the last 2.
