Those won't work up here buddy LOL. Ha ha tackle *****'s unite. I'm totally kidding as anything will work if they are biting (they will eat the paint off the bottom of the boat if they are in feeding mode).

Heading down in about a week and I am not buying any tackle as it won't work up here (I don't know that).

Just going to clobber BIG Yellowfin tuna and hopefully some bill fish. It is between two major derbies so it should be HOT!!!

Ready to bring back some Yellowfin Tuna for eats for sure. Maybe some Dorado as well but I will be happy with just bringing back some Ahi.

So close I can taste it already. LOL. Taking the camera and GoPro with me.

The boat we are fishing on down there is leading the Tuna derby right now

Good luck down there! lots of pictures please. Some close-ups of the fish you catch would be nice. those yellow fin are beautiful.
About the small tuna lures I just posted: the last day I got em out there we used a small mexican and it caught most of the fish. regardless of weather it is necessary i now can not fight the urge to get more of them in many other colors especially for 4 buck each!! I have a problem....i know.

Those Dorado are fun -beautiful too-we took 12 yesterday between 2 pangas and 4 fishermen at Bahia de los Suenos just north of Los Barriles. You ain't seen nothing until you see a 30 lber come 6 feet clear of the water. Caught on live bait drifting-reminded me of how we used to do coho-no weight-just a hook, live bait and that's it!!!

Damn guys....good luck down there! And John, please set your GoPro to push button recording! Although I'm assuming you got on this after the shootout lol.

Green with envy here...

Bastards. Still 12 weeks before I get among those Mexican yellowfin. Leave some for me!!

I hope to take some good shots. I really like the looks of those little feather lures. I probably will pick up a few. The mexi flag ones look killer for sure. I think it's a good problem to have LOL.

We can take a wander over to Minerva's.... the candy store of fishing tackle in Cabo. I'll be getting some feathers from there for sure!

I was there (Minerva's) 2 weeks ago and talked to her for 10 min or so-great lady-she wanted some LED's from Pirates Den so I obliged since I'm down that way. If you're a tackle freak -she has a killer selection which will surely lighten your wallet LOL!!

I go to see Minerva everytime i go down there to stock up on my t shirt collection and get some lures

Love that, when nothing but line/leader/bait drifting, and one (or more) rockets out of the water .... Exciting stuff. Sad how all the vibrant turquoise/yellow just turns grey when bonked. But so tasty... Another week of frosty mornings for me.

That's how we get most of our striped marlin.......sight casting a live bait with no weights

The most fun you can have with your clothes on ;)

Only 3 more sleeps. I can't stop thinking about YFT.

Here is a good video with lot's of big cows caught at the rail.

Tuna trip with Don and Jerry

I've been so busy back here at work in the city, I completely forgot to post a few pictures.

I can't wait for next Tuna fishing season....The first time in my life something that excites me as much as guiding salmon and Halibut (It's by far my favorite fish). Now just to somehow get September off of work and run Tuna charters.

Tuna shootout 2013 is going to be EPIC.

I am going tuna fishing in Hawaii this Christmas, looking forward to that as well. Not the best month for it, but their are a few around in December.

Filleting Tuna on the fly when it was calm was the best. The set-up in Don's boat worked really well.

Matt

The thing I am starting to appreciate more and more with the pictures...how flat the water always is!! Who knew the best days of fishing AND weather were at the end of September?

tx for posting

Well we're outta here in the early morn. Thought I'd say goodbye now in case I forget in the morning (gotta get up at 3:30 am). I will take lot's of pictures and video and will post up a report when I get back.
