IF anyone is looking for more room in the 'tuna box' ( I have great dreams of plugging my boat just once - please...) I found some totes that fit the bill for my purposes - http://www.bluewaterbait.ca/totes.php - all sorts of sizes, I picked one up already. Hasn't had ice in it yet, but the quality looks fine
The 200l size will be a direct replacement for my rear bench seat. The price was $229 - adding a cushion topper and anyone who complains about comfort will be very comfortable on the dock - lol

Great memories for sure.

I sure wished I could have met you guy's why knot and Slivo. The whole event was so cool and I met some great folks but that is about the only regret I can think of. I wish I met everyone. You guy's, Tuna don, the guy's on Trophy Hunter, any one else I didn't get to chat to.

Next year. I'll be there and you can count on that.

My search for larger fish boxes/ice totes took me to the PNT warehouse in Delta. I had seen a 'Xactic' tote in the pics 'Sculpin' had posted from his tuna trips and wanted to check one out for myself ( BTW, there is one 'second' tote in stock at the warehouse- I was quoted $350, if someone is looking for one?)
I bought a large damaged tote that's going to get cut down to fit under my swimgrid/hull extension. While loading the tote, I noticed a large display board covered in dust and assorted commercial hardware. It was their old tuna/trolling display board. I made an offer for the works 'as is' and now have a pile of lures n things. Some of it looks like common tuna style gear - BUT - I'm bit lost for what the bigger stuff may be used for???
If any of you recognize the bigger gear? or have ideas how it could be used? (locally?? Mexico? Costa Rico? ) I'd appreciate some advice

They are all good for Pelagics, the bottom left of the first pic.....looks like a couple of birds used as teasers. They create a disturbance on the surface, and are usually run with a smaller lure/s several feet (5-6 or more) behind, with or without a hook. I suspect the one to the left of the birds does the same. On the right of the birds looks like a planer or diver of some sort. The larger lures above work great as teasers without hooks for Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado etc. When the fish come to the lure, it is slowly teased towards the boat while a ballyhoo rigged with a circle hook is dropped back. (Bait and Switch technique). A large J-hook can be inserted and trolled like a normal lure. Normally rigged with 100-300 lb mono depending on the size. What length are the larger ones, I may be interested in the 3-5 of largest lures if you are willing to part with them.

Nice score. Looks like some good stuff in there. The bigger lures represent bigger baits. Some of the tuna this year had large bait fish in their stomachs so ya never know. I think there is a Washington BDer that drags around some bigger stuff.

If the skirts on the larger style Kona Heads are a bit stiff try dousing them in food grade silicon spray it can bring life back to skirts-used to be some info on Peter Pakula's site-the Aussie lure maker.

The two white ones on the right in the first pic used to be made by the old Seven Strand company and were called Knuckleheads.

OK having a closer look I see there are a couple more Knuckleheads there too-very old style that still works @ slower speeds.

All the smaller lures will work for Albies but almost all of them need new skirts especially the feathered ones.

Quality skirts are easy to find and cheap to buy-not in Canada though (!)

Yes that's right it's a global economy and the Latvian price for the Storm Deep Thunders I liked the look of was half the Australian price so WTH!?Looked to me like you couldn't buy them anywhere else.

Doing business with Aleksandr in Riga was very easy-he was out of a few colours so I told him to send me something that looked good and he did. Delivery via Canada Post was just under two weeks and the total was under $50.00 for the four lures.

Terry, I am compiling my collection of fishing gear right now. I am just organizing and putting things in big rubber maid storage containers..............wholy fack!!!! I just realized how many rod's I own. I am pulling them out from here and there and putting them all into a corner and it's like "where did these come from?". It truly is a disease!!!

One of the best ways to get gear is to go to mexico. A buddy of mine was just there and gave me these. Of course he bought the store out of these items and kept the blue and white for himself. At 4$ a peice I sure would have too. So if anyone is going to be in cabo and would like to get me some more of these in 4.5 inch I am dying to get my hands on some blue and white.

Those won't work up here buddy LOL. Ha ha tackle *****'s unite. I'm totally kidding as anything will work if they are biting (they will eat the paint off the bottom of the boat if they are in feeding mode). Very cool looking Birdsnest.

Heading down in about a week and I am not buying any tackle as it won't work up here lol.. Just kidding I probably will buy some of those cool looking smaller lures.

Just going to clobber BIG Yellowfin tuna and hopefully some bill fish. It is between two major derbies so it should be HOT!!!

Ready to bring back some Yellowfin Tuna for eats for sure. Maybe some Dorado as well but I will be happy with just bringing back some Ahi.

So close I can taste it already. LOL. Taking the camera and GoPro with me.
