Tuna Fishing Haida Gwaii!

Me and two friends went over to Haida Gwaii early September for our first time Tuna Fishing! What a blast. I was having some audio issues unfortunately with the cameras.

I did this as well. One of the better videos I have seen for action and obvious enthusiasm.
Thank you for editing this, it made it quite enjoyable. And thank you for hardly adding any music to it, and when you did, it was at a very low volume. It was hard to tell from the video, but did you do circles when you had your first hit (to stay on the school) or did you just mark the spot and try to go back to it as I heard it mentioned during the video?

I have to give you five demerit points for leaving your bumpers out though. (kidding!)

How far off the beach ? They were as close at 10 miles off brooks at times this season , im sure if they were that close down here they must have been incredibly close up off the gwaii.

Thank you very much I appreciate that. We did do circles once we hit and also marked the spot and if we were hooked up on multiples and couldn’t circle we would come back to the spot.

I do deserve the demerits for the bumpers lol

We were only about 6 miles off the west side of Haida gwaii

I find you can pretty well swing anything over the gunnel if you are using appropriate leader/good crimps . We hit a serious grade early sept out of winter with lots of high 20’s and a few over 30 . Never gaffed one . Into the into the fabricated bleed bucket on stern quick , gutted then into the slush for a bit , into the holds with packed cavity’s, fantastic quality and a clean boat !

Do guys typically run just 4 rods for albacore? When I went out of WH we ran 11 handlines and 1 rod.
