Trout Fry

I have a friend who was asking me where he can get trout fry for the pond on his recreational property.. I had no idea. Has anyone had any experience with this or have any idea how to obtain some??

think there's a private trout farm in metchosin/sooke, they might sell live fish.

Can't think of the name but the hatchery in Sechelt but they did at one point not sure if they still do. I believe they also leased out trophy trout that you returned if I recall.

Chapman creek hatchery just call my father and as far as he knows they still stock private ponds.

Most reputable trout farms will not sell you live fish unless you have the proper permits from the govt. Better read this first:

I wonder if I could lease out a 47lb spring for May Long weekend in Tofino......just for pictures with the proper background and then I'd return it.

The hatchery also sells excess coho in the fall to raise money, and sells trout at certain times of th year to raise money for the Boy Scouts.

All beautiful clean chrome fish......

Chapman hatchery will still stock private ponds as long as you have the permits.. either cutties or rainbow.

Stock it with bass instead. A much more hearty fish they will live for years and years and if you want to C&R they take to it well.

very true except you have to be careful - transporting live bass is illegal... Not that i have anything against bass in a pond... dont get caught or talk about moving them openly.
