Traveling to Rivers Inlet Anyone?

We are from Campbell River and are thinking of cruising over from Port Hardy to Rivers Inlet for a few days of fishing this summer. We have never been and was wondering if anyone else is going who knows the area and we could travel there together. We have a 23ft Striper. If not we would appreciate any info and advice. Thanks!

For a smooth crossing go early and on a flood tide (important).
Also check West Sea otter and go on a 2 foot chop or less.
Stay 2 km off of Cape Caution.
Ebb tide coming out of the coastal inlets makes for nasty seas.
Hardy to Duncanby takes about 2 hours, 3 in rough seas.

I have seen guys out there in 18' boats but I would not recommend it.
