Time Limit On Posts?

I log in, start a reply...and if I go over a couple of minutes making up the reply, when I go to post it tells me I am not logged in.

I try "advanced" mode........same result.

Then it tells me I have used up 3 out of 5 log-in attempts when...actually I haven't.

I logged in successfully on the first try.

Does this every time I go for an in-depth post.

A long in depth post on any forum I usually write it in a new e-mail message first, do all my proof reading and spell checking in the e-mail program.. if its a long I usually highlight and copy it all several times as I'm creating it just in case I loose it all by mistake.. If I leave the computer for a period of time I will save it as a draft so I don't loose it.. when I'm ready I just copy and past it all from the e-mail to the forum post...

Happens to me regularly. I often have to break away for a few minutes, come back and I have been logged out. it would be nice if the inactivity log-off set point was longer. Blast, it just did it to me again - 7 minutes

Never had that happen before and I've left the computer turned on and logged to the site for an entire day. Odd indeed.

I haven't logged off in over a week this time, I leave my comp. on 24/7 with this forum and a couple of others That I'm a Mod. on. I have taken up to a day compiling a reply to a couple of posts, some I have deleted (thought better), and others I posted, it's never timed out for me.

Seafever....quick question for you; when you "log on" do you click the little "remember me" box?? That may have something to do with your timing out due to inactivity in case you are on a shared computer.

If you "click" the remember me box every time you access the site it will automatically log you on. This may not be the issue but it is well worth checking which is likely due to some of the features built in to the forum software for those that access from "shared" computers.

I found that if I did not click the "remember me" box every time, my login would drop out on longer more in depth replies, you know the ones that actually make you think about what you want to say:p

So,,,, I click the remember me box every time so that I do not get disconnected and thus frustrated. Not sure if this will help you out or not, try it if you aren't already doing it.

Good luck.

It is doing this to me now......... Never had a problem before

Lastchance... is it a cookie clearing set up or something?
