.... I believe it maybe on there boat at mill bay.. I saw it there in morning... not sure if they had it when they were un loading from the water taxi at the government dock...
Well have to say what a blast the shoot was this year.... Great job BC tough Crew..
We arrived at Brads Place on the broad walk Monday afternoon and stock the medicine chest right away for any aliments that we may have encountered for the week...
Start to ready the boat for the tuna fishing and rigged it up.. This year was the first year skippering my boat for this event as I have been a deck rat for Mike P and Shawn H last year with a total of 3 days on the water chasing these addictive critters....
The weather was goofy to get a feel for so the Tuesday we did local Coho, bottom fish fishery... With Mike P doing the forecasting for us from his office we went for our first Run up to Clayquot canyon weds morning.. a 68 mile run each way...fished it tell 3:30 and ran back not a bite.. as we found out this would be the day where the whole fleet got the same thing except for the Coho fest. that was going on.... a great test run with my boat and great crew.... the wrap up shot for the day
Thursday was a miss call on my behalf weather wise to go out which we should have because the fleet found where the fish where and it was a successful day.... Friday up early and we travelling bye 5ish in lumpy water and arrived at Louden bye 8ish... Got a new respect for my fat bottem girl on that trip... Thank u Dak for the coordinates u gave to Brad bye the way... We where about 5 miles away from that found birds, whales and jumping tuna right away...dropped the gear and game on...its sooo cool out there...we proceed to boat 12 tuna to 22lbs lost a bunch and 3 cohoes...very nice bonus fish.. Thanks Sculpin for the chatter ...
.... never did get out for tuna Sat.. did put the hook down for flat cod and got a couple of those ....then the rap up gig at the fire hall..as u can see bye sculpin pics a very fun wrap up and then off the Sea Beam....we'll as Searun always says ... What happens in Blam town...probably didn't happen... thank u to Whiteside and the gang for the after the blast...We'll be back next year...cheers
Nice pic's Derby. Missing was the 26'r of Fire Ball, or did that disappear in 3 minutes like the last trip. Looks like good times. Sorry I couldn't join ya all. Too many things on the go trying to catch up after a busy summer away.
The San Mateo was on the water early Friday in the escort of the Tuna Don. Here the crew of two is working the back deck and "Otto" is driving the boat.
These guys were catching so many fish that after reporting their position to the fleet the skipper gave the warning that they were on autopilot and so busy on the back of the boat that other boats should keep their distance!
