Tenders

Was wondering if anyone has thoughts on tenders for boats in the 28 ft range . Either ridged like a walker bay or inflatable . Our boat is not equipped with a davit . Could install one over the swim platform but that may be inconvenient . Some of the inflatables pack up small .

Thanks Robert

I had a 22' Bayliner and wanted a tender so bought an 8' Walker Bay Air floor inflatable with the intention to inflate and deflate on board when desired. Well what a pain in the *** that became. No room to inflate and royal pain to haul back in and deflate not to mention soak everything. I upgraded to a 2858 Bayliner and tried the same with similar results, maybe a wee bit easier. Wife said pay for the davits and put it on the swim grid. So I did and wow was it awesome. Wife can deploy it solo in seconds and we use it all the time. Cost 400$ for install by Clear Marine (great job). Couldn't imagine it any other way. Just my two bits!

Thank you Sidneyboy , that is the input I was looking for . Just purchased our first bigger boat , a SeaRay 280 & thought that an inflatable would be the answer but kinda figured that we might find the problems you described . Now we have found a Walker Bay 8 ft dinghy & will fit davits this winter . Was the $400 to install your davits or were they included ? Cheap either way .

Thanks again Robert .
