taking gas on the ferry

so im planning a trip out to haida gwaii next year. if all goes planned we will be bush camping and fishing on the west coast. taking enough gas will be an issue. is there some way to get fuel on the ferry? I see thy have a 2 25L max for gas cans. can u take tidy tanks if there empty? I remember last year we had too many gas cans and we had to fill them with water. Is this still the case? I don't want to have to load the boat back up and haul it to town or have to buy a ton of gas cans when I get out there.

tidy tanks (1) is ok
1 jerry can only, empties need to be water filled they made me do this in line once too. OR... hide them

As stated above, try filling 16 20lt gerry cans with water while waiting in the ferry lineup, also only 1 propane as a vehicle, 2 as an RV?? They will not let you on if you tell them you have more. Made me take mine to the manager for "security" never saw that 20 lb full tank again. This is a transport Canada rule I believe so can't say anything against BC Ferries other than the gouge prices we are paying.

I had a tidy tank in the back of my truck for years and have never been asked about it. It is a diesel tank but still they have never asked if it was full/empty or what it was. Don't think I would be fill my tanks with water either. What would be the difference between a tidy tank and a fuel tank in a car anyway. My fuel fill nozzle is all locked up in a covered box and you would have to break the top off of it to get to the nozzle,be easier just to cut hose.

Good to know, like I said they have never asked me about my tank. I guess they were smart enough that they knew it was diesel.

So it looks like the solution is fill a tidy tank with gas and put a diesel sticker on it. Thanks for the help guys. Why is it ok to have hundreds of cars with fuel tanks and not have a fuel tank in the back of a truck? Some rules I tell ya
