Tackle Box

I have too many small tackle boxes and I would like to narrow it down to one bigger one. Any recommendations for tackles boxes?
Any good flasher storage system ??

All opinions are greatly appreciated

Many thanks

I never found a tackle box that I liked on the boat for saltwater........so I use two things.

One is a sort of zippered canvas bag that carries 4 plastic trays in it that can be totally taken out seperately. The trays have compartments for hoochies, spoons, etc, I bought this at Wholesale Sports, I think.

The other is a permanent box that is in the boat. It is designed to hold two large plastic trays and also has a compartment for flashers.
The box has a lid on it so the sunlight can't get at the the tackle.

The trays can be bought at WalMart or other similar stores in different sizes.

I got the Plano 777 ( I think that's the number) with the trays. Tons of room, and easy access clear top tray.

I got one of these for my birthday last year...love it (probably the same one Dave is talking about). I've got spoons, hootchies, plugs and teaser heads separated into the 4 individual drawers/boxes. Frequently used items such as pliers, hooks, leader line as well as all my unrigged tackle in the large tray on the top. Small items such as nair clippers, swivels, toothpicks etc in the small tray on the top.
It's large and takes up a bunch of room, but with the 4 small boxes being removable it makes it manageable.

I am a bit of a tackle ***** so I use a big tackle box. I like this one from Flambeau. It has removable boxes that I can set up by species or gear type. The top portion is very big and holds lots of gear and up to a dozen flashers. It also has two small removable boxes on the top that you can put stuff into for quick/frequent access. Another reason I like Flambeau is they have the Zerust anti-corrosion system that works pretty good.

Check it out. http://www.flambeauoutdoors.com/fishing/default.asp?p=Details&i=8050

You can get the Flambeau stuff at Island Outfitters, Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart.

I have noticed that tackle box’s are made out of two different types of plastic. One of them, the harder stuff, is useless for any of the soft plastic lures such as hootchies as overtime they actually dissolve into the plastic of the tackle box damaging the box and destroying the hootchie or other soft plastic lure.

Once you can tell the difference you will only buy boxes made out of the good plastic. Not sure what the technical name is for the two different types of plastic but stay away from the bad stuff.

I am glad this thread fired up as I have looked high and low for something to suit my needs and am still yet to find anything. I did find one while looking around online one day which was a "soft" box with all the compartments/trays in it and pockets around the side to hold pliers etc. There was also a big zippered pocket that would be GREAT for a large assortment of flashers.....BUT do you think I can remember where I saw it or the brand....NOPE!!!

I am thinking of doing the tray/clear box type set up and I found Simms has a great gear bag which will fit those larger boxes perfectly in the top section, I think there are some side comparments and then there is a big section underneath with ventialation which would be good for flashers.

I am more in the market for a "soft" box so if any of you have any ideas as to what you've used or are using I'd love to hear them.

The soft boxes that hold the plastic boxes are nice, however, the zippers tend to cause trouble,
sticking after some use. I like mine, but have to keep up cleaning the zippers. ........BB

How about something like this...............

These SKB boxes are pretty top of the line and bomb proof. Should last a lifetime.

Cheers,

I use a gym bag and the clear plano boxes - its cheap and can hold more tackle then you would ever need. I absolutely HATE hard plastic tackle boxes, they seem to always be in the way.
