Hey there,

I am sure this topic has been covered in the past, but I was hoping to take some frozen fish to Toronto this summer to give to some friends.
Whats the best way.....I realize St. Jeans is an option, but I was hoping to just grab a cooler box and back with ice packs. I will prolly reach out to the airline as well.
any info greatly appreciated.
thanks

My old man flew home with a cooler box one year. Box was full, frozen solid fish and ice packs. Just the same when he landed. He was direct from yvr, though.

My wife does this 4 times a year. Put all your frozen fish together in bag. Put that right in the middle of your suitcase. It will stay frozen from Vic to Calgary and then on to Toronto. Unpacks and it is still 99 percent frozen. Easy 8 20 20 hrs. Cargo holds are not heated.

Buy a styrofoam cooler that has a box with it. Most tackle shops sell them and outfitters use them. No ice allowed and they will ask you if there is. No need for gel packs as the fish will stay frozen.

I have been sending frozen fish with travellers for decades.
Vacuum packed, frozen solid, wrapped in newspapers and/or towels, in the middle of the luggage.
Never heard of a problem.

Buddy flys from Comox to Calgary ever year post Nootka trip. 50 lbs max. All in one cheapo cooler. We dump all ice before we check in. He leaves a couple of ice gel packs inside. Salmon is usually very cold already. Checks it as his luggage. Gets to Calgary cold never had a quality issue.

I have done it often. The only problem is that vacuum packed frozen fish can loose the seal from the change in pressure and needs to be revacuumed when you get there

We have never had that happen in 35 years of taking fish to Ontario. Good quality 4mil bags and good food saver unit.
