Stuart Island fishing reports

I am looking at doing a fishing trip up to Stuart Island first week of August.
Stuart Island is next to Sonora Island and just north of Quadra.

Does anyone have a fishing report from the area? Not looking for any specifics just generaly how has the Chinook fishing been. It was very good last year around Staurt Island. There are 3 or 4 big lodges there so fishing must be good.

Any info is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Dave

Hmm not much information here. Guess I will have to find out myself

Will be up there Aug 9th and maybe this Sunday. Just talked to a buddy who was there all last week said it was slow. This can change quick up there. All the guides boats were fishing Denham bay he said. Your right about the lodges but sometimes I wonder why they are there can be tough fishing, but the scenery is amazing.

Thanks leftcoast.
We plan to be up there around August 4th to 11th. Staying at Big bay I think.
Will be a cool trip for us

It's a beautiful area... But the fishing can be hit or miss. The majority of the fish are taken from Denham bay on the flood and Hall point on the ebb. Or go elsewhere and have some room to yourself and in all likelihood have just as good a chance at getting a couple fish. Commonly trolled depths are from 100-170

Fishing reports dont have that much value in this area because of the tides. A wave of fish can come in one day and be gone the next.

Cool trip is right that place is beautiful. When I'm up on the 9th maybe you can tell me where the fish are at. If you are there that long I would spend some time in Bute Inlet as well.
