Thought I would share if someone is thinking of doing the same.

This thread got to the point… I like it!
Personally I think Stripers are one of the best bang for the buck boats.
This one is properly powered and an absolute gorgeous boat.
Nice job!!!

Thank you Stizzla,

we absolutely love the boat and are very excited with the end result and improved performance.

It was quite a nerve racking task, but managed to meet some great contacts along our journey that made this much easier for us.

Who did your pod for you?

Greg from Adventure marine.

Highly recommend his company.
We talked to at least four or five different companies and one of the main reasons we used him initially is he was the only person we found that uses a marine architect for the design which gave us a lot of confidence.
I’m glad we did because I learned quite quickly there’s a lot more to a pod then just bolting it on.

Would you be so kind as to outline some of the things you learned/ overcame?

I talked to them about a custom kicker bracket. His price was reasonable and he was great at communicating. I decided to use someone else, but I think paying a bit extra, for an architect, on a pod build is money well spent.

Looks great, curios what you plans are for the space in the transom?

There was a lot of little things, but some of the key ones that stood out was that every hull is different. I was initially thinking it would be flush with the hull and they decided it would be better for our boat about 3 inches off the bottom. Also the flotation for myself was impossible to know. The pod was a touch deeper than I preferred but it needed the flotation to keep it floating were it was with the inboard.
I also never realized the importance of the motor height in the water. I assumed just get the props in water and your good to go.

We talked to a few shops and they said we can build it, but I can’t guarantee it’s going to work. Didn’t give me a lot of confidence obviously.

Right now it’s all loomed nicely. All the pumps, batteries, autopilot etc. are all under the sides. The only thing on the bottom is the bilge, water alarm and intake for the wash down.
Those were all put below the old engine blocks, so we haven’t done it yet but I think we’re going to put thick plexi or stainless grate across the mounts and some kind of quick release system to remove it if I ever need to get in there in a hurry. Then attaching some baskets for storage.
I’m open to suggestions, I’ve put this on the back burner until next winter.
