:mad::mad::mad:last night around ten I caught 2 kids about 12-`13 cutting through my backyard.. ,I yelled at at them.. they ran..woke up this morning looked out the window... 1 of my 2 crabtraps went missing out of the boat.... missing one brand new crabtrap used twice.. 100 feet of lead line and a red and white float with my name on it...found the crabtrap gauge in the middle of the road two houses up... would have lent those kids a trap, had crab on the deck for dinner last night ...coincidence I think not..., Also why not take both the traps? they were the same... Little p$^%*s..guess its time for the trail cam setup..:mad::mad::mad::mad:
 
I guess hey, right in front of myi window in the driveway even , i take everything out of the boat usually.,the one day i dont... 50 dollar lesson i guess

This is why I strip and lock my gear up.....Some people think I am crazy for doing so on my own driveway. All someone can steal from my boat is a couple old gaffs, a couple beaten up cannonballs and an oar someone gave me.

When I am concerned about the welfare of my boat or my truck when left in certain places like at gold river ramp I set up my black out game camera. There's no flash and the pictures are great.

 
Nice... Was looking at these game camera's today.. , setting one up above my boat might e a good idea, not much in there to steal , same as you F.A. Couple old wooden oars n a gaff n rusty knife

Do what I did when I lived in Port Alberni, buy a baby monitor. Stick it in your boat, put the reciever in your house and have your louisville slugger by the front door...
 
I caught two guys breaking into my car in Langford area when I was younger..Were trying to pry my sunroof. I hit one of them three times scare on backside of legs below knee in my carport with one of those oak arctic karate swords..I almost got arrested. RCMP said I used excessive force to assault LOL...There really is not much you can do unfortunately the thieves are the ones it seems with all the rights....I cant believe they stole your crab trap.

As for guy I hit. I can bet it probably taught that guy a good lessen. You should see what happens to people who steal in China and other asian countries... Its sickening here how many people steal, and get away with it or get a slap in the wrist..

You get them red handed...beat there butt.. call 911...you know who arrives how long later...resisting confinement is allowed.....let them go with a beating that they will remember....least they won't come back....other side is they get hurt?....so?....they threatened you with bodily harm....oops....hit the shithead again.
I make no bones about people that steal things....no the law and know what you can and can't do....and what you can get away with
And I know there is going to be flack about this post...Unless you have been a victim and got screwed over....I hope you never have the problem?
 
I had a silent alarm with a pager installed in a very nice car of mine that kept getting it's stereo stolen.

One night it went off a 3:30 am. You should have seen the look of surprise on that d bag's face when i came up behind him with an aluminum baseball bat right before i turned his lights out........priceless.

The attending RCMP officer had been there for one of my previous break ins and didn't feel very sorry for the burgler and said he didn't blame me. Apparently he was a multiple time offender, surprise, surprise.
 
two or three years ago the wife and I were sitting in the living room on a sunday eve in early spring, was about 9;00pm. The wife looks out of the front window and says "Dave, theres someone in your boat.... and he has one of your downriggers!" I leaped out of my chair wearing nothing but a pair of shorts, blasted through the front door and gave chase, barefooted! I cought up to the two about two blocks away piling into their car. I tried hammer fisting the drivers window so I could drag the little bag of **** out by his ear but it would not break. It was then that I noticed the rear door was ajar (it was a four door) and one of my downriggers was in the back seat! I preceeded to take back possession of my rigger just as they got the car started and began to drive away. I was left with only one option.. I took my rigger and smashed out the rear window with it! Not only did they not get their booty, they also got wat was coming to them! lucky for them I did not get them before they got to their car!

I get fired up every time I tell that one:)

I also wrote a letter to the local paper here in Campbell River under roses and thorns telling this story so im sure they were earmarked having to explain a broken rear window!
 
First off pretty sure i am dealing with kids....i grew up about a block n half from here n the neighborhood has a reputation , had they been adults they might have tried for my kicker.... If i catch an adult in my yard they can expect a "welcome to harewood "of a lifetime..believe that! ! Great thief stories guys thanks.. Im keeping the boat gutted from now on.

Don't let your emotions get you in trouble. It's easy for the Internet tough guys to suggest a course of action, but it won't be so easy for you, the victim, to justify their advice in a court of law.
 
Kids lack wisdom often because their parents don't care or aren't around, so they make stupid choices. Stupid kids have stupid parents. Even stupid parents will not like anyone harming their children, so expect repercussions. Take the two knuckleheads crabbing, make them pull traps by hand. Let them eat as much crab as they can. If they steal from you after that, shoot them.
 
I don't really have anything I can do but grab another crab trap "Keep Calm Fish On"....Had they been adults they may have opted to take the 10-15 pre rigged flashers in the bucket , probably worth more then 3 crab traps.. Anyways I like to think I am a little more level headed then to attack some kids in my yard guys no worries there.
