Stolen Tackle!!!!

Hey guys,

I am asking you to keep an eye out for some tackle that was taken off my boat Saturday night. It was loaded at around 10:00pm for a 3:00am departure.I was in my truck at 3:00am waiting for my guests. The trip did not actually happen due to forecast winds. By 12:00 noon my son and I were unloading my boat. I thought it was odd that all the deck bolts for the downriggers were backed off. I later found that my tackle lockers were emptied. I had Five Plano boxes. The large semi transparent boxes ( 1"x 12" x 30") and one rubber maid blue semi transparent box .

Contents were a guiding carreer of teaser heads of all colours. ( probably more than a hundred of them). Several dozen were prepped with satinless wire. There were a couple hundred bead chains, snaps, siwash hooks, trebbles, dacron. Basically everything needed to tie bulk rigs. The other cases has squirts, hootchies, skirt inserts, beads, downrigger hardware, clips, crimps etc.

The larger case had at least 50 flashers of all colors many still in the packaging.

This really sucks! Considering I was sleeping with my windows open right beside my driveway. Because of the wind my family did not hear anything. Something must have startled the f@#$%^&k head because nothing else was taken. I'll tell you what though, a rod or rigger would be much easier to replace. I am out several thousand dollars and years of collecting. Small things and one of a kind custom teasers can never be replaced.

Appreciate your eyes out there guys.

HL

Sorry to hear that.......there is no need for s--t like that!
Where you located? I will keep an eye out for people selling gear in classifieds.
Insurance pay for the stolen gear? house insurance?

My condolences on your loss.
what town are you in? Hopefully the stupid sh*t tries to unload them on used victoria.
will keep an eye out

Appreciate it TW and HB. I am in the langford area. Police report has been filed. Stores notified and classifieds being watched.

I feel like baiting the place and hiding in the bushes. Anyone that wants to try again will pay the price[}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)]

So sorry to hear Buddy. I emailed you before I read this and noticed your boat hooked up this morning.

Will do my best to keep my ears and eyes open to find the f**king low lifes who would do such a thing.

I have some extra flashers, bait rigs and hootchies you can have if you need some stuff to get back going.

That sucks Highlights, when I lived in Langford I got all my stuff stolen out of my truck rods, reels etc. I was told to go down to the Timmy Ho's and ask some of the wild life if anyone new of some fishing stuff for sale. I never did but if you have some things that they don't make anymore it might be worth a try.

Hey Juandeone. Shawn told me to say hi on here Rob W from Jdf.

I HATE THIEVES !:(

First night I had our new 9.9 4stroke on the back of the boat some TDM tried to rip it. Luckily one of the stainless bolts galled and his cheap wrench didn't have the b@lls to break the nut off.

I bought a wireless motion detector with audible alarm like you hear when you walk in some stores. Two heads with different tones for the two locations my boat may be parked in the yard. 4 feet of square link boron chain, a $100 padlock and a locking thingy that covers the outboard transom bolts.

All that expense to keep the crackheads from being successful.

Good luck with finding your stuff. That's a good idea to check the local TDM (Theiving Druggy Misfits)hangout and ask about buying some fishing gear.

B,H @ N49 hit the nail right on the head. The local crack baby bar is probably your best bet for getting reunited with your stuff. Dress casual, kinda dirty go drink beer and mingle with the scum, casualy bring up the subject of fishing. You may be plesantly surprized what comes out off the woodwork. Make shure you have lots of backup with you as it will probably get ugly. Hope you get your stuff back somehow, and get some real scum on the court docket list.
I,ll be keaping my ears open Highligts.

I'm setting my priorities. I'm making time for fishing.

A buddy of mine had an item ripped off, he found out where it was for sale. Went to the house to "buy it" and when inside the perps house he phoned 911 with his cell phone. Got his item back and got to enjoy watching the areshole get arrested too boot!!

Hey guys ,

it's nice to have good guys in my corner. I am so Pi#$ed you wouldn't beleive it! Aside from the gear , it's the idea that some #$% head biat#$% was just yards away from my window. Snickering as they hauled off with My stuff. If I could only meet them face to face.:(

I appreciate the offers of gear guys. I made a list for insurance purposes and will see if it is worth paying my deductible. I hope so , but again it was years of compiling the small stuff that will be hard to deal with.

Now I also have to up the security around my house. What a bummer . I think I will go with motion sensors and an audible alarm.:(

I had a somewhat similar experience a number of years back. My extra large tackle box with years of collecting was sitting on the back seat when I stop in at a 24 hour convenience store to pick up coffee on the way to the marina. I was still half asleep at 4:00am and left the door unlocked. Less than five minutes later I got back to the car and drove to the marina where I noticed the tackel box missing. Still pX%$#& me off to this day.
Keep an eye on Craigslist, Used Victoria, Kijiji and the Web version of the Buy Sell and Trade Magazine.
One guy got his kicker motor back by responding to an ad and then calling the police. Unfortunately your gear could also end up at pawn shops or sold at garage sales or flea markets. It amazes me how many unusual ads you see for boat and fishing gear on line. I often wonder about ad for things like spare trailer tires with the cut lock chain still attached or a whole group of used kicker gas tanks and hoses for different brands of kickers all being sold by the same guy.

I would think that late Friday night is a great time for low life’s to drive around looking for boats in the driveway hooked up to vehicles all loaded and ready to go with the riggers mounted. I like the motion detector idea and I think if I had a lot of gear loaded for the morning, that I would be tempted to sleep in the boat cuddy cabin with a cell phone and a baseball bat.

I feel for ya Highlights. I will keep an eye and ears open over here. It is a shame some a##hole can ruin a lifetime of collecting gear:(:(.

Catch it,Kill it,Smoke it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I couldn't imagine losing my lifetime of collecting irreplaceable gear in one fell swoop. That's maddening, the crackheads are treated far to well in this country. Unfortunately, if you dummy one of them in the act you'll probably be the one who ends up going to jail. I second the pawnshop as an easy disposal route. Check the yellow pages or online for all local pawnshops and then do a drive by. Maybe you'll get lucky, I sure wish you luck.

Bastards...well, myself and hundreds of others who have read your report will keep an eye out for the gear you've described. This is not a theft of someone’s recreational gear but is someone’s livelihood and is totally disgusting. Baseball bat justice is just a start.

Having 50 plus years of tackle I can really identify with your loss my friend , if it happened to me I would be totally devastated !
I pray you are successful in recovering your gear

Regards

AL

I will keep my eyes open, I used to ride dirtbieks alot and had all my riding gear and 3 250$ dirtbike helmets stolen out of my garage one night. Lets just say i had the bat by my bead and kept the dog sleeping by the garage door at night. That sucker is lucky he never came back.

I hope you find your gear!

-Steve

Hey Highlights,

Sorry about your conundrum. I can relate, been burned a couple of times myself.

The suggestion has already been put forward to donate some tackle to get you going again. Good people on here!

I've got a half-dozen or so used but decent flashers you can have for the asking.

Let me know.

Cheers,
Terry

Ouch....that sucks, But by posting here and telling us you now have a lot of people with their eyes open looking for your stuff. As for calling your insurance company.... do it right away. You would be amazed at how fast the cost of your gear adds up. I haven't been ripped off before but I did lose all my fresh water gear once and salt water gear is more expensive. I bet by the time you add up how many swivels and snaps alone you lost , you just might find that to be equal to your deductable..... Don't look at it like you lost a lot of stuff......call your insurance company and then go out and buy all new stuff.....THAT'S WHY WE PAY INSURANCE!!! and while your at it .... buy a baseball bat!!

And remember....Keep your tip up!!!
