spreader bar lights

anybody ever use lights like this on their spreader bars? Is it even legal?

I have used them, I believe they are legal as long as you use them in daylight hours. Didn't seem to make much difference though.

Looks like it is legal to me as long as it is within 1m of your hook.
I think a few years ago it was only ok for squid, but the regs seem to be different now.
I used an identical battery powered unit once, worked too well on dogfish one night while anchored for the evening refreshment session. I also tried little glow stix in hootchies once. Nuttin.

I used those trophy torches. Didn't seem to make any difference. Also glow doesn't work for me near as good as pearl white.
