The last two mornings off of the Otter Point Trailer Park was productive for Springs.

Only took one this morning and lost another, kinda slow for me. The late afternoon trip turned out better. Landed 3 up to 28 in a 40 minute stretch starting about 2:30ish. Only boat left fishing too, breezy, rough with a big ebb tide and curlers coming over the stern while playing fish. Had my kicker go completely under once...never missed a beat. Off to Gold River early in the morning. I hear its on fire right now so hoping for a good trip again this year.

Think it might be better the next day or so... The batch we saw at camper on Monday was pretty good... from what I've heard they have moved.

Im gonna try and give it a go sat morning before I leave for my trip to Port Hardy! Hope there is some fish up there or I will be really bitter about this seasons start...

Now here is a candidate for the Darwin Award. This guy tries to swim across the Sooke Basin. Guess no one told him it’s not a lake and has strong currents and very cold water. Hope I got the link to the Times-Colonist to work.

Well, "outside the box" did't work for me over the last while so I thought I have to change things up: put a 19 lbs "IN THE BOX" today. Finally something. Standard procedure, Trap, 60 ft, anchovie. 4 shakers for the rest of the day. Very slow between Trap and Aldridge. Saw onle little spring being landed and heard two stories of lost fish - that's it.

BWT, checked out the sockeye run way out. They travel out over 500' of water in 300' depth. Massive school. Wonder if they bite.

Went out today. Tried Secretary first and nothing, so headed over to Otter. Got a 21 lb at 74' on the downrigger. 6" herring. Stoked!

Whats the current rules for Chinook in Sooke. Is it still the slot restriction or are we allowed 2 over 45cm now.
