Well, if Renfrew is a measure of what's to come in Sooke in 1-2 weeks from now then don't get your hopes up too high boys. Similar story on the beaches - maybe even slower than Sooke right now. A few guys get one a day, quite a few nothing. The big boys who can go to the bank do significantly better. But close in I saw a lot of disappointed (and green) faces today. Got only one small spring myself and had to fight with swells and cross-chop for it [xx(].

Just got back from Gold River. Not much better up there. I managed to limit the guys out with 12 springs, (3 days) but worked long hrs and puddle jumped all day to get them. Not very good for GR right now.

Geez Rollie, you missed out! Sooke was on fire My old man has reported the same for GR with most of the action from outside.

I just have to wonder what DFO is coming up with for there Sooke/Vic fly over averages right now? Gov?

Other than a few "magic" fisherman, I know what most of the real life numbers have been. It has improved slightly though, a few more fish at the tables now.

Fished last night at Possesion from 2p-7p; zip,zero,nada, not even a bite. Saw Nataural High bang a nice one but that was the only fish I saw caught out of 15 boats. Not good......
BTW I think poor Steve should get to keep his quarter because it does stink out there!!

Well you tell me any time a july has been "hot" Iooked back on my records and its about the same. as what its been like. guys its fishing not "CATCH" you have to go out with a positive attitude or else you will suck, confidence plays a big roll in fishing.

If it is really that bad and you hate it so much then I suggest you sell your boat take up golf or going to garage sales or whatever makes you happy.

There is fish out there.. buddy of mine was into 6 and got 2 on sunday "IN SOOKE" went out yesterday and got a nice high teener and did it ever taste good on the bbq.

Sometimes you guys are so depressing!!!!!

Enjoy it for what its worth.
When I go hunting I get one deer for 10 days of hunting, dont shoot one every time out same thing. its about the fun times with my buddies.

Don't feel bad Smiley, it isn't any better over Victoria way...
7 trips with only 3 small fish released.
I believe the warmer ocean temp 52 deg compared to 47 deg last year
is causing the fish to hold offshore where the larger concentratons
of bait are.
Read the reports from Tofino, Ukie and north and you will see that
there are some fish on the inside, but the offshore banks are where
most of the action is.
Same seems to be the case for Renfrew.

For the optimistic people yes there is fish out there, for the others stay home the "limits" of fish are not here never will be.
Got a couple of beutiful fish today a 23 and a 16.

It was rough coming out of the basin for sure with that ebb 8 ft standing, a bit of fog in and out for most the morning, it was just a very weird day calm one min then rough the next came home in 2 ft chop then it looked flat at sec.????very strange day indeed.

Nice work Roy. Might give you a dime but not a quarter yet.
Same place as you were yesterday?

I hit the water 1:00-5:00 yesterday. Right in the time zone that I never fish. Almost always before or after.
Fished Otter and never saw a fish caught. Marked fish and saw bait which was promising but no go that day.

Back from Hardy, Man what a great trip. 10 springs and 2 Halis. Lost more fish then I want to think about due to weather and one inexperienced fishing partner and a father who is well....Not what he used to be when it comes to the battle at hand. We were into over 30 springs. All between 17-29 pounds. Now its time to start pounding it out in Sooke again.

Wolf I will decide after this long weekend if you get your .25 cents or not. Should be on the water for sat and monday in the prime time. Hope this moon phase doesent throw things off much.

Will throw up some pics of the hardy trip soon.

Flat calm Harbour..... Fog wind to the outside, strong ebb. Seen it a few times and at 8ft. One time full air born off the first one with a couple flatlanders.. YARRR welcome to the coast!
Way smoother by the tip of the kelp bed and calm in the fog at Otter

Ok how about 8 ft chop then whatever you want to call it how about f#$%en big water then and yes they were that high seen enough of that stuff LOL LOL.

Ok today had a late trip got a 21 lber for an 11 yr old kid and lost one, and it was great to see the smile on that kids face the rest of the day.
