Oh my god, let me clarify before we waste another page of this thread: By no means was this statement directed at you Wolf! From the bottom of my heart I trust that you pinch your barbs and follow the rules as do most professionals! My first sentence was my honest acknowledgement of your fishing skills. My second sentence expressed my surprise to see fisheries out on the water checking boats (first time I see that here in Sooke) and to highlight my surprise I threw out the ironic statement that I hope 'everyone' out there had their barbs pinched as I saw them make a boat lift up a line. Nothing to it - no personal judgement intended towards anyone in particular - only my momentary thought when I saw the DFO boat in action. Honestly! If I insulted you or hurt your business then I am very sorry as nothing could have been further from my intention. All other readers understood me right though. Are we ok now, Wolf?

Yes we are good always have been like I said earlier, A bit sensitive maybe so, just defending my self and will always for our rights to fish as you all know me.

Found a few shiny ones to 25 lbs today. Striper J slept in came out late and blasted a beauty bout 25 lbs beside us within minutes of dropping the gear before we got any[B)], to sweet[]. Got ours on an old school Blue/Grn Hootchie and the other on herring 100' and 87' Head and Church out in the deep. Good to see a good few fish around

Spiny dogfish have 5 gill slits. The six gill has, well, six.

Clear in that photo that there are 6. Hard to tell though with not being able to see the rest of the dorsal plane.

That is a 6 gill, Mark Grant had one last week up at Jordon while fishing for flatties. Guess a few are around right now. A few springs today too, 30, 19 and a 12 on the morning flood. Released a couple socks as well.

Im starting to think my boat might be running hot. Was out for another 6.5 hours today without a hit. Tried thinking outside the box as many of you have said to try. Threw every odd lure out there and tried as far as 2.5 miles offshore. All depths. Wasent marking much bait or fish all day. Grandpa got a 31 at the Head yesterday. Maybe I will have to go out on his rig and try to pick one up.

Oh and I got a 6 gill when hali fishing at conny about a month ago, was like 6 ft long and about 45 pounds. What a scrap. Thought I was playing a chicken for the first 5 mins.

I have changed the way I have been trolling. and it has been working for me. got a 20 this am off Possession. I have slowed the troll down with really slow roll on the bait almost like cut plug Also have shorter leader down to 4.5 ft... worth a try..tight lines
