Don't worry fixer it was brought to the net, kept in the water, hooks pulled free, set up my camera, wet the deckr all while it was still in the water....then a quick hoist onto the deck..pics, 10 seconds later back in the water...held him there for about 5 minutes with about a 3rd of him outside the net supporting him with the hoop, he swam away on the surface, circled the boat as if to say thanks and then cya. He was tired as he fought really well and wouldn't let me bring him the last 20-30 feet for a long time.
BTW there is no other way (appropriate way) to get a fish that big over the side without risk of going over the side yourself. I was by myself so not leaning that far over to try and tail and belly support him while on my tippy toes and high centered on the gunnel.
