Came across these and thought some on here might enjoy the scenes of some simpler times.
They are from before my time traveling BC but some familiar sites. My parents first traveled BC back in the Late 60's sometime. Apparently my dad bought and old used Pontiac for $600.00 put some new rubber on it and left North east Alberta and went on a trip to V.I. My aunt had an Oyster operation going in Parksville they wanted to go see. There were 7 of them in that old car, 4 adults and 3 children. I guess the Trans Canada at that time was a lot of gravel lol. Could you emagine the adventure. Must have been a beautiful thing for them to see. I started traveling BC in the mid 70's regularly with my parents. My father was a logger and in AB loggers are slow in the summer so there were summers we spent a month and a half traveling BC usually ended up at the coast for a couple weeks up in CR fishing. I remember we started to fish Port McNeil around 79 sometime we camped at a log landing/ boat launch at Bears Cove or Beaver Cove not sure ?? for a couple years at that time to my knowledge there was at Telehraph Cove to camp. Then right around 80-81 they started the camp ground, I know the first year we stayed at the camp ground was the first year it opens there was still a lot of construction going on at the time. But yah it was a quiet beautiful area.
Anyways sorry for my ramblings but here is a link to something you all may enjoy.
