I have known this little girl since the day she was born. The family is really going through a tough time right now. Here your chance to help out the Vermeersch family in their time of need. www.gofundme.com/ex0nq4

The fund is up to 1,400 dollars now. These donations will help pay for the upcoming funeral services for Serena. The family greatly appreciates all the strength and support they have been shown. Despite the evil people in the world, the ones that murder innocent children, there are alot more good people on this earth. Thank you

An update, the fund is up to 3,000 dollars now. There is going to be a Rally held at the Newton Seniors home this Sunday at 2pm. Its, Take Back Surrey-Rally for Change.

Alleged murderer is a two time repeat offender... Or better put he has been convicted twice before for committing violent acts against women/kidnapping. Who knows how many times he's done it or tried to do it.

The community was actually warned that this guy was being released and had a high probability to re offend. Total failure by our justice system.

Somebody remind me why we try to rehabilitate these people?

Yes ,the community was warned he was being released and would be residing in Surrey, Since being released in July 2013, He was jailed 3 weeks for theft and 3 months for breach of probation. He was spotted many times hanging around a Whalley Skate Park as he lived not far from there. The RCMP and Government now will not provide details on what was being done to monitor this individual. He was supposed to be monitored as the RCMP has separate unit that is responsible for monitoring these violent sexual predators who have a high risk of reoffending. Crown did not ask for electronic monitoring upon his release. I think the Vermeersch family deserves some answers from RCMP and Government. The system needs to change. A beautiful little girl, who had her whole life ahead of her is now gone forever. Just because she was walking home alone from a bus stop close to her house...

An update. The Serena Vermeersch fund has now risen to 4,000 dollars! "Take Back Surrey-Rally 4 Change" yesterday was jam packed with concerned citizens, RCMP and news media. The Vermeersch family released a statement thanking everyone in the community for their generosity and support. The family is still too heart broken to appear in public.

An update. The funeral for Serena was held last Thursday in Surrey. Thanx to Starbucks for supplying the coffee and food. Lots of family from all over Canada were in attendance. It was heartbreaking to see so many of Serenas friends in tears at the service. I got to meet the young awesome Sarah Ogren who has organized the Trust Fund for the Vermeersch family. Donations are up to 5,400.00 dollars now. It was inspiring to meet so many respectful and caring youth on this day. I can honestly say the next generation rocks. Just maybe they will inspire the much needed change to our broken down justice system. I now have hope for the future as I continue on in my life after seeing how a community bands together to support one their own. Tight lines everyone.
