for salmon i understand Fairfax Point at Moresby Island is a pretty popular place, close to bottom, as well as fishermans wharf?

As far as Hal holes: GOOD LUCK ON THAT ONE ! Those Sydney old boys are pretty tight lipped. They leave some nice big carcasses at the boat launch cleaning station but just try to ask them where exactly............ ?:) Just put in your time out there and you'll find them. There are some tidbits from their newsletters though:

FISHING REPORTS OR STORIES
Barry Freeman reported that he caught a 12lb Halibut Saturday, an extra mile or two
past Darcy Island. Other than that there were no other fishing reports or stories.

"an extra mile or two past Darcy Island" !! that might be as exact as you will get.:)

thanks for the site, I fish out of renfrew spring, summer, and fall, I have been in saanich for the past month and a buddy has his boat in sidney but doesnt fish, I am not inerested in halibut down here but was hoping to find some feeder springs ,crab, and hopefully prawns. thanks

Hal--The south side of Moresby Island from Fairfax down to the passage on a slack or ebb tide used to produce winters for me. I haven't fished the Sidney area for 10 years but that whole side of Moresby becomes a big back eddy on the ebb. A more well known spot is the channel between Sidney Island and James by the red can buoy. See you at Renfrew sometime.

No Rigours

Sidney Anglers have a tide book available at no charge that gives month by month locations for catching salmon. You can pick one up at Island Outfitters or in Sidney from one of their many advertisers.

The Channel from the Red Can to the Powder Wharf always holds fish, just size is questionable. Right on the bottom. J79 Squirts
Moresby Island is good right now as well.
For crab Sidney Spit is your best bet. Don't leave them unattended on busy weekends.
