Shipping fishing rods/ good casting rods

Has anyone shipped fishing rods to Ontario lately? What did you do to pack it for shipping and what did it cost?

I busted new Daiwa rod with less than 30 casts and I'm a little PO. I have 15 year old and 30 year old Shimano and new ones that have been beat to hell and had no issues. It was a relatively cheap rod but still, not even sure I want another one.

Looking one with good casting capability for shore fishing, any recommendations as a replacement?

I use a piece of capped plastic pipe with some air pocket filler around the rod itself inside the pipe
