I'm starting to worry you may never come home. Lol

Some of you may have noticed that the derby banner ad is now in place on this site. Simply click on it for the full poster with the event details

Pro,good job on the derby bananer...
btw don´t worry about my return, I don´t plan to stay here for ever... besides Im not ready to give up the Otter Pt daisy - chain...:)

I need a few people who are planning on fishing the derby to offer up a seat that is open on their boat for a few derby sponsors. I would like to be able to offer free entry and a ride in the derby to those who have stepped up and who are contributing very generously. I'm filling one of my free seats with our printer who did our posters. We have a good friend at Scotty who is always generous and would like to get him out if he is available. Also we have a fellow who is willing to make our custom trophies for cheap cheap and would be nice to offer him a ride. There will be a few others along the way. PM me and I'll keep a list of the rides available and let you know when I have someone to join you. Thanks

Forgot to add that a few individuals on this forum have really gone out of their way to help out by rounding up either cash or prize donations from their work place, friends, businesses and fellow fishermen. I would encourage more of you to do the same and ask your contacts if they will support this event. Lets make it a great weekend of money raising and prize giveaways!

Myself and High Five had a meeting today with Dave from Envision 3D Studio to pick our final design choice for our custom trophies. Dave found a very fitting design and the three of us agreed to let him fly at it. He will be hand moulding the design of both the trophies for the largest salmon and the largest halibut. Al I can say is that these will be a ONE OF A KIND and it will be a lot of fun to award these on May 12th. I'm bringing my camera!!! LOL

If you or your business would like to sponsor a derby prize I will be giving those sponsors 1 free derby ticket for each $100 in prize value. (up to a maximum of 4 tickets) PM me here or at sscl@shaw.ca We have lots of prizes assembled so far but want to really fill up the prize table.

I'm hoping that many of those from up and down the Island and the mainland who indicated they were coming down to have some fun on the water and meet others from the site are still planning to participate.

Rollie: I will be attending and taking a local member (Jessie V. who has been helping with prize donations). I will also be offering to take an out of town member for the weekend as well. I am based out of Cheanuh Marina.

...Rob

Rob, I'm sure you will have a few people contacting you for that ride.

Now how did you manage that? We are all out..... Mother's day LOLOL.

Yeah I had 3 boats all new and non members with 12 people coming but none can come now cause of the dates. We all take our wives and mothers to the expensive hotels for brunch. They all love it I could care less but after all it's there day.

Take them out the week before....it's the thought not the date that counts. Right? I have had New Years Eve parties at the house on the night of the 30th just so everyone can get a Taxi home without waiting all night for it to show up.

lOl this women your talking about profisher not men. This day has to be on this day it's only one day a year. On Father's Day I could care less about gifts and going somewhere but not them. This is one day we cannot do that to them. We can't change it for fishing lol I miss and change enough stuff to hunt and fish a solid 4 months a year. This is the one day I never miss plus I kill 2 birds with one stone lolZ

Unfortunately I had little left to pick from for dates. Pedder Bay would be too busy on the may long weekend, Sidney Anglers have their derby the 1st weekend in May and Outfitters took the original dates. The tides on the last week of April were the worst of all the weekends so that left the 11th and 12th.

I've just sent a current sponsor list to Lastchance for posting on this site to recognize those businesses and individuals that have donated to the derby. More will be listed as they are confirmed. A couple of our members here have taken it upon themselves to go after sponsorships and have done very well. One member is a contractor and has asked his suppliers who his company buys from to support this with a donation. If you are in the construction business in this capacity and plan on fishing the day I put this challenge to you. Remember this is a fundraiser for a great cause.....our fishing future!!! The challenge is to approach a single supplier who your company purchases supplies from through out the year and ask them for a donation. I can supply you with the paperwork if needed that explains why they should help out. As I can't possibly get around to all the likely sources of donations that will make this the best derby it can be this is a simple way to get the job done. I'm in for the lion's share of the work but if some of you could bring in just 1 sponsor each it would put this over the top. I think this is what they call delegating. :)

Just a reminder for those who are coming from out of town for this derby. Pedder Bay Marina which is our official weigh station is offering some great derby weekend deals for those in the derby. Discounts on RV sites, moorage, ramp use and boat rentals. Give them a call.
