Chinook are an an extreme conservation concern in the south coast and while the SFAB proposal does limit exploitation on Fraser stocks of concern it fails to take into account all south coast chinook stocks whos numbers have been in decline for decades. The department also recognize that First Nation fishing for food, social and ceremonial is of utmost importance and currently there is not enough salmon to meet the needs of First Nations.
