September Tuna run?

Wow ! How long does a run like that take, to get out that far ? if i had a 75 gallon tank would i have enough gas to get back okay ? Im having a boat built for me but was wondering if i should get a bigger tank installed ?
Ron
Oh the boat is 22' aluminum 225 yamaha and 9.9 kicker !

The run took me about 2 hrs @ 11 gals/hr with a crew of 3 and 450 litres of fish ice. I burned 60 gallons for the 12 hr day.My fuel capacity is almost 100 gals........ why worry if you have enough when you can carry 25% more, when you want to?

I personally wouldn't go out there in a boat under 25 ft or without twin motors. I blew a motor up last yeat 32 miles out and got back to port in 2 hrs. How long would it take with a kicker?

First of all I want to thank Shawn again for inviting me. Thanks buddy:cool:. I had one of the best days on the water ever!

I have been wanting to get in on this tuna fishery for a couple of years now and my dream came true on Saturday. You couldn't have asked for better weather or better company. It was nice meeting our other deckhand and Shawns right hand man Sean. It was great meeting some other forum members like C.S and Firelight.

I took quite a few pic's and some video. Here are a few to share with everyone.

Trolled around for about an hour before the first one hit on the starboard rigger using the turd (damn that thing works on everything lol)!

One of three that were caught on the salmon gear. We were running 40# mono on the Islanders and using heavy backboned mooching rods.

We trolled around for about an hour after the first fish was in the boat and hooked into a four banger. What a blast!!!!!!!!

Total excitement, carnage, and satisfaction all rolled into one.

It was an incredible experience and I am HOOKED on the tuna bug for sure! I'll be back out first chance I get.

Great day on the water with great people. Supernatural British Columbia style.

Been following these threads, epic adventures :)..... my tuna runs tend to be a little closer to shore... Gordo bank, san jose del cabo ... yellowfins galore. Holy Shiz... they can melt a reel if not up to the task.
Love to get in on some BC Albacore though, anyone heading out in next while that needs crew, Im game I have a couple of Penns spooled with braid in the garage for something like this. (for anyone that wants to get in on some tuna action in the southern lattitudes, give Ricardo a shout... my go-to guy in Cabo http://www.caboadventuresportfishing.com/)
