Seen this reel before?

A friend of my wife's came over a while ago and brought me a box full of old fishing stuff,most of it was junk.In the bottom of the box was this reel,kinda cool never seen one like it.All alluminum with brass screws,wooden handles and made in Vancouver

Looks like a collector , made in the 1940's in Vancouver

I don't believe there is any relation to the Coates Company of New York. These reels were made in limited quantities and only in a few models. A truly spectacular Canadian reel

Yes, I have one of these. I disassembled and completely refurbished. The check is on the crude side as far as smooth pickups when the fly is hit. But stunning. Have been watching for one that is 3" or less. The one I have is 3.5" with the same riveted plate on the back, two parallel radius highlights, single check knob/slot with red handles.
