Sealing ply to glass liner - 24 Monaro

Looking for advise:

I have a nice early 2000s monaro (thanks to the handful of enthusiastic monaro owners on this forum). The floor/ transom stringers are in really nice shape (I'd like to keep them that way).

The boat was podded and the doghouse was replaced with a chunk of aluminum. This sheet fits well but water certainly seeks under the sheet and down into the bilge. There is a week spot between the liner and the ply floor that I would like to shore up (to avoid getting water between the liner and ply). Does anyone have a suggestion for sealing this edge? Its a 3' edge on both sides of the doghouse running north/ south. Not concerned about esthetic as this area is covered by the plate. A solution that wraps up and on top of the liner would be acceptable if it only adds a 1/16" or so.

All thoughts appreciated.

I would just glass it. Couple layers of 1708 sand then paint
Do some good prep work but glassing is easy and will bond well and seal

Thank you. Can you please lay this out for a non glass savvy individual (I haven't worked with cloth and resins before).
What would constitute good prep?
2 layers of 1708 wetted out with resin in between coats?

It's hard to tell from your pictures how much the deck overhangs into the old engine compartment. I wouldn't recommend glassing it if you haven't done it before,take it to a pro.It should look factory done and shouldn't be overly expensive.

I would sand it with 80 grit get it clean. Nice clean wood.
Cut a few strips of 1708 Matt about an inch wider than the area you want to cover.
Mix some polyester resin (unwaxed couple cups) wet the area you want to cover.
Put a strip on should stick and wet out using a small cheap 2” dollar store brush. Put a second layer on. Let it cure. This time of year may take a while.
Once cured I would use a zip blade to cut off excess matting, sand and paint.
Easy job and if it has defects you can sand and re-apply more Matt.

I have done this before make sure you have lots of gloves and a mask.

Like said in this thread I would assume it to be a cheap fix at a shop. Less than a $1000 bit doing it yourself is less than a hundred.

Alternatively you could just brush on epoxy to seal it I beleive then paint
Other will know more about epoxy

It is flush. Thanks for the advise Ray. I'll consider sending it off.

I had the exact same delam on my Monaro and just used epoxy, held up fine for this summer, so I might just leave it. Glassing is probably the technically better way to go, but I never see it, so who cares.
